Joshua Stevens of the University of Pennsylvania at Philadelphia has put together a rather unusual map that shows how many times Bigfoot has appeared in different regions of the United States. The author himself emphasizes that he is not at all sure of the existence of mysterious primates hiding from civilization, however, he finds it worthy of study that people have been "finding confirmation" for the legend of their existence for centuries, none of which, however, is recognized by the scientific world.

The scientist collected information on 3,313 cases from 1921 to 2013, when the Americans claimed to have seen Yeti, and marked them on a map of the United States. He used information accumulated by the American Bigfoot Field Observation Organization, a group that collects reports from people claiming to have seen yeti or any evidence of their existence.

The first thing that Joshua Stevens drew attention to is that not in all cases the number of discovered "snowmen" or their tracks was proportional to the population of the region in which they were allegedly seen.
Most often, Yeti "live" in dense forests and rough terrain. According to Joshua Stevens, this is quite natural - people who do not have the opportunity to see everything that surrounds them tend to be somewhat suspicious of every extraneous sound and, apparently, sometimes attribute them to mystical creatures.
