Residents of the Altai Territory are going to take revenge on the mysterious rabbit killer. In recent months, 13 cases of mass killings of these small livestock have been reported in one of the villages
Local rabbit breeders are in a panic. Someone began to sneak into the barns at night and destroy the cages with animals. The nature and traces of attacks are the same everywhere - the rabbits are killed, piled up in heaps, everyone has two punctures on the back of their necks. There are already more than a dozen such cases this autumn.
Lilia Selyanina, a resident of the village of Anuyskoye, says: “A dog? Why are you laughing? You twisted nails, tore cells? The dog would eat them."
Broken cage doors, torn pieces of wood, digging under sheds. Everything speaks of the serious physical strength of the mysterious killer. During nighttime reprisals against rabbits, watchdogs, screeching, huddle in the booths.
Local Internet owners also add fears. When asked in any search engine "the mysterious death of rabbits," the most popular answer is the vampire animal Chupacabra, unknown to science.
Similar stories, as in Anui, photographs of Chupacabra, eyewitness accounts on the World Wide Web are full. On pseudo-scientific sites, it is studied, classified and even habitat is determined. Altai scientists do not believe in a mysterious monster. By all indications, someone from the weasel family operates in Anui. Most likely, this is an animal rare for Altai - a wolverine.
Viktor Petrov, head of the laboratory of zoology at the biological faculty of Altai State University, says: “In our region, it is theoretically possible. It is on Salair. And there the border with Gorny Altai is not far away. There are wolverines."
Traps, barbed wire, metal bolts - the inhabitants of the Anui barn are turning into real fortresses. Who ruins rabbit farms, the mythical Chupacabra or the "common wolverine", is no longer important for the inhabitants. Local hunters agreed, as soon as fresh snow falls, they will find it on the trail, and take revenge.
