There simply could not have been a global flood in our relatively recent past - there was no reason for it. It would seem that the simplest way to prove or disprove the legends about the flood would be to try to find material evidence of the biblical description of the cataclysm. The search for the famous Noah's Ark is just about to resume on Mount Ararat, but various obstacles, mainly of a political nature, from decade to decade, stand in the way of researchers. Perhaps the search will go easier if you look not only on Ararat, if the flood was worldwide, then there should be traces on other mountain tops? But there is another task - to find not traces, but the cause of the flood …
The description in the Bible of the global flood that happened 5 thousand years ago is far from the only mention of this disaster. An earlier Assyrian myth, recorded on clay tablets in the 21st century BC, tells of Gilgamesh, who was saved in an ark with various animals, after the end of a 7-day flood, strong winds and downpours to Mount Nitsir (400 m high) in Mesopotamia. By the way, in the accounts of the flood stories, many details coincide: in order to find out if the earth appeared from under the water, Noah released a crow and twice a dove and a swallow. The methods of building arks are similar. That this is a free presentation of the same event, a story about different regional floods, or facts from the story of a global flood that actually took place,in which several representatives of different peoples, independently of each other, were warned (or guessed, felt themselves) about the impending danger? By the way, similar stories are also found among the aborigines of South and North America, in Africa and Asia, that is, almost all over the world. In other words, if there really was a flood, then the name "universal" it fully justified.
There is one more common detail in all such stories. Legends say that in the good old days there was no … Moon in the sky. Those who lived in antediluvian times were then called "dolunniki". According to some peoples, the Almighty gave the night star to people as compensation for the catastrophe experienced, that is, for the flood. The flood ended, the rain clouds parted, and the few who survived saw the moon in the sky. That is, before that, the moon was either not seen at all, or it looked different …

Heavy … Is this not the secret of the Flood? Our only natural satellite, due to its significant mass, makes small floods-tides on Earth twice a day. The moon most of all attracts that point on the earth's surface that is closest to it, as a result of which a real hump grows at the sublunar point. The soil rises by half a meter, the ocean level - by a meter, and in some places - up to 18 m (Bay of Fundy in the Atlantic). At the point of the Earth farthest from the Moon, the same hump grows just because this place is least of all attracted to a heavy satellite.
And although people have long been accustomed to this seemingly common phenomenon, it is unique in our solar system. Astronomers do not know of any other such example of the existence of a relatively light planet like ours such a heavy satellite. It would be more correct, scientists believe, to call the Earth and the Moon not a planet and its satellite, but a double planet. The formation of such a system at the same time, from the point of view of cosmology, is impossible, from which it follows that the Moon, aka Selena, is not the “sister” of the Earth, but - how to put it - a spouse who once came to her narrowed from the black depths of space. They even call a "maiden name" - before, Selena was supposedly the core of Phaeton. Once this fifth planet collapsed, forming a swarm of asteroids in the place of its former orbit between Mars and Jupiter.
And so the curve brought the core of the mountain-planet straight to the Earth. According to all the laws of celestial mechanics, it turns out that after the gravitational field of the Earth captures any body, the latter will gradually decelerate in a rarefied, but still not empty space around our planet. All bodies - dust, stones, artificial satellites, etc. - very slowly lower the altitude of their orbit. And only one mysterious Selena does not fall in spite of all laws, but … moves away from us. True, very slowly!
Hence it follows that before the moon hung above us below. The closer, the more tidal waves should be and the slower the speed of the apparent movement of the star across our firmament. If the height of the Moon's orbit is reduced by exactly 10 times, then it, like a geostationary satellite, will hang over one point on the Earth. The tide height in the open ocean will exceed a hundred meters. This is not enough for a global flood, although entire countries will be flooded near the place of the flood. Depending on the height of the moon, the duration of such a flood can vary from a month to a year. In just a few years, a giant tidal wave will make a full revolution around the Earth, having visited all countries. In general, word for word everything is like in legends! If you want, the LUNA IS ACCUSED OF ORGANIZING A GLOBAL DISASTER. Or was our present "natural" satellite only a tool for putting into effect someone's judgment on sinful humanity?..
