The Egyptian pyramids continue to fascinate researchers and the general public with their secrets, but we are getting closer and closer to solving their secrets.
Defense system
Not so long ago, there was a discussion of the last interesting discovery. Egyptologist Mark Lehner described a number of grooves found just outside the burial chamber of Pharaoh Khufu in the Great Pyramid. In his opinion, it was a simple defense: a row of thick granite blocks that block the path to the chamber.
The builders devised a defense mechanism against anyone who could enter the pharaoh's burial chamber if anyone could go that far. These grooves and projections are not decorative. They are part of a very primitive machine.
These grooves were used to guide the granite slabs towards the entrance and also to keep them upright. Another set of thick blocks was to slide down the corridor, completely blocking the entrance from the tomb.

Looting the pyramid and its treasures
At least that was the plan. The pharaoh's burial chamber was robbed between the end of Khufu's reign and the collapse of the Old Kingdom (about 2134 BC). so that only a large red granite sarcophagus remained from the burial of the pharaoh. But some archaeologists believe that the burial chamber itself is of value, although its possible treasures remain hidden.
Secret chambers
According to the Minister of Egyptian Antiquities, secret cavities may be hidden in the pyramid. Back in 2011, he announced that scientists had come to the conclusion that there were several thermal anomalies that were observed on all monuments during heating or cooling (at dusk and dawn). Many hypotheses have been proposed to explain such anomalies, such as the presence of voids behind surfaces and internal air currents.
These cavities can be natural (for example, cracks), or other unknown chambers. The exploration is carried out with the help of robots that pass through six shafts of the pyramid: four in the chamber of the pharaoh and two in the chamber of the queen. They found three copper doors. To determine if there are undiscovered chambers behind them, scientists use cosmic rays to help map the interior of the pyramid.
