A narrowband space radio signal recorded on August 15, 1977 has been denoised by a home computer. The author claims to have made an incredible discovery.

Editor’s Note: The author Degteryov Valentin, who specializes in finding everything, whatever (mainly missing aircraft), relying on data from satellite photographs, recently mastered audio recording programs. And now he makes discovery after discovery. Once he "found" the missing Malaysian Boeing, then he identified those responsible for the deaths of passengers of another Boeing over Donbass, but now he has solved the mystery over which the most prominent scientists have been racking their brains for 10 years …

As many know, "Wow! Signal" is a strong narrow-band space radio signal recorded by Dr. Jerry Eiman on August 15, 1977, while working on the Big Ear radio telescope at Ohio State University. Listening to radio signals was carried out as part of the SETI project.

The signal characteristics (transmission bandwidth, signal-to-noise ratio) corresponded, in some interpretations, to theoretically expected from a signal of extraterrestrial origin.

Amazed at how closely the characteristics of the received signal matched the expected characteristics of the interstellar signal, Eiman circled the corresponding group of characters on the printout and signed the side "Wow!" ("Wow!"). This signature gave the name to the signal.

The circled code 6EQUJ5 describes the change in the intensity of the received signal over time. Each line on the printout corresponded to a 12-second interval (10 seconds of actually listening to the air and 2 seconds of subsequent computer processing).

Determining the exact location of the signal source revealed that this region of the sky is in the constellation Sagittarius, about 2.5 degrees south of the fifth magnitude χ Sagittarius stellar group. The signal was never repeated."

Today, this is the only extraterrestrial signal of origin, which cannot be doubted. It is recorded and well known.

This signal came from here!

The author of these lines, back in 1980, read an article about him in the journal "Science and Life". It is characteristic that scientists from the USSR did not deny the possibility of its artificial origin. And even then it is true that even the "Iron Curtain" did not in any way affect the rationality and adequacy of our people. They were aware of everything new and mysterious, but at the same time they were far from any obscurantism that so clearly reigns in the world of the XXI century.

I remember there were attempts to decipher this signal, to reveal its digital nature. After all, it was initially assumed that the "WOW!" something more than ordinary electronic noise.

It was believed to be a code sent in response to a message sent into space from the SETI radio telescope. But they all failed.

The low level of computer technology, the complete absence of electronic filters and special programs, made it impossible to get closer to solving the signal. But today it's 2016. There are many programs for processing sound files, and therefore it is surprising that no one even tried to process it with the most mysterious signal of the 20th century. The author of these lines decided to correct the mistake.

What happened next is simply amazing. Of course, there is nothing earthly in him. And it is rather difficult to call it a voice. It's just that someone from the depths of endless space sent us his "hello". A sort of cosmic politeness. So the signal sent from the SETI telescope has been received. It remains only to guess when those who answered us will get to our planet. And hope that after this meeting at least one of its representatives will remain of our species.
