The container ship MSC Oscar was also built in South Korea, but at a different shipyard, Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering in Okpo. The ship was ordered by the Italian-Swiss company Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC). She will also operate it, although the actual owner of the ocean giant is the Chinese bank Bank of Communications from Shanghai, which financed the construction.
The MSC Oscar's capacity is 19224 TEU (twenty-foot equivalent unit - standard 20-foot containers), which is 224 more than the CSCL Globe. Hull length - 395.4 m, width - 59 m, draft - 13.9 m. Gross tonnage - 193,000 brt, deadweight - 197362 tons. It is envisaged that 1800 containers can be refrigerated - it is possible to connect them to the ship's power grid.
The baptism ceremony "MSC Oscar" took place on January 8, 2015 in the South Korean city of Okpo. Then the supercontainer ship moved to the port of Busan, and on January 13, anchored in the Russian Slavyanka Bay in the Primorsky Territory. A modern production and logistics complex is now being created there to organize the operation of the Primorye-2 international transport corridor.
The visit of the giant ship to Slavyanka had two goals: firstly, the anchorage points in the port were tested, and secondly, MSC Oscar received new generation cylinder oils. The container ship is equipped with fuel-efficient engines, for which modern oils produced by the Russian company Lukoil were selected. It is reported that under the terms of the contract, by the end of 2015, Lukoil will supply the ship owner with 15 thousand tons of lubricants, providing them with more than a hundred large-tonnage MSC vessels.

MSC Oscar will fly the Panamanian flag and service the China - Europe line. He is the lead in a series of three container ships; the second vessel of the same type, MSC Oliver, will be delivered to the customer in April 2015. The South Korean shipbuilding concern Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI) has completed the construction of the world's largest container ship at the Geoje Island shipyard. The vessel with a cargo capacity of 20.150 TEU was built by order of the Japanese giant Mitsui OSK Lines (MOL). On March 15, 2017, the new building was named MOL Triumph.
