Many people consider their life not meaningful enough or even meaningless, and their explanations for their beliefs are based on mistakes. The lives that are considered meaningless are, in fact, meaningful to these people, but they do not realize it, according to an article by a psychologist from the University of Haifa.

Errors in understanding the meaning of life lead these people to see their lives as meaningless. And if they start to analyze correctly, they come to the opposite opinion. This question is more relevant than ever, because today, despite the improvement in life, more and more people see their life as meaningless. To come to the right opinion, you first need to clarify the term "meaning of life."

In everyday speech, the term "meaning" has two main meanings. It has to do with clarification, indication, or interpretation. However, another basic meaning of "meaning" is associated with concepts such as value or importance. For example, when someone says that “meeting him was a very significant event for me” or “in the context of such a huge economic deal, these twenty dollars are meaningless,” they use “meaning” in the second meaning.

In discussions about the meaning of life, “meaning” is mainly used in the second sense, that is, we are talking about value, importance. For example, some successful people report that they no longer consider their life to be meaningful, and in response to the argument about a career made, respond that it is not important to them. In fact, they know about the success of some aspects of their lives, but no longer see them as valuable.

Others consider their life meaningless, because they are sure they cannot get what they want. People who have lost someone they loved, feel that their life is meaningless, and also go through a similar process: there was something valuable in their life, and now it has disappeared. This is true for other arguments for the meaninglessness of life.

A meaningful life is one that is considered to contain enough aspects of sufficient value. It exceeds some threshold of a sufficiently high value, and, therefore, is considered significant. A meaningless life is one that has not passed this threshold of value. People who consider their life meaningless describe it as "empty", which, of course, is not so, they just see it as not having sufficient value.
