Based on the report of the adviser to the head of NPO Energomash, Georgy Kostin, it became known about the details of the creation of a new quantum engine. The device is being developed by domestic specialists under the guidance of scientist Vladimir Leonov.
It is clarified that at the moment a lot of promising projects are being implemented in Russia. For example, the Kwanton company managed to outstrip the American and Chinese colleagues in the field of the formation of a quantum engine by several years. The aforementioned development of Russian scientists has already become interested in employees of the space industry. It is reported that the introduction of quantum engines into spacecraft will increase its payload and efficiency.
Nevertheless, the key feature is the use of cosmic energy by such an engine. Simply put, the power plant is not tied to the external environment and chemical reactions inside the engine. Thanks to this feature, the spacecraft can be located in outer space for an unlimited amount of time. By the way, "Kvanton" has already announced the development of a functioning prototype of the KVD, so it is possible that its tests will begin soon.
