26-year-old Taiwanese resident Neil Cheng Le has long dreamed of keeping a giant Peruvian centipede at home, and the longest one you can buy.
On average, Peruvian scolopendra (which, by the way, are very poisonous) reach a length of 30 cm, but there are specimens even larger. When Le managed to buy a young centipede in 2014, he never thought that she would be able to grow to 42 centimeters.
Recently Neil Cheng Le and his centipede appeared in the world media and became famous all over the world. At the same time, Le immediately warned that only experienced specialists who know everything about them should start such creatures at home.
The bite of a giant scolopendra is considered dangerous for humans, but usually after a bite, the site of the lesion only swells for several hours and hurts. With the bite of a large scolopendra, pain and consequences, such as a rise in temperature, can appear within a few days.
Only one case of death from the bite of a giant centipede is reliably known, and that was in 2014 in Venezuela. Then a 4-year-old child died.

According to Le, scolopendra himself never bitten, as he knows how to properly handle her. Le is not afraid of being bitten, even when feeding her unusual pet or letting it crawl over her body.
Giant centipedes feed on insects, but they can catch and eat frogs, mice, lizards, spiders and even smaller millipedes.
