On the slopes of the Agarmysh ridge, one can observe a unique natural phenomenon - the sudden formation of a very thick and dense fog. According to eyewitnesses, the fog appears as if from under the ground - a minute ago it was a clear summer day, the sun was shining, but suddenly everything changes dramatically, a lilac-purple haze appears around, the surrounding air becomes loose and moist, and creeps out of the neighboring bushes, as if paws of an outlandish beast, sleeves of thick, dense fog.

Another moment - and the visibility becomes close to zero, as if you are inside a heavenly cloud, where neither light nor sound can penetrate. The kingdom of silence …

Anyone who observed the phenomenon from the side notes its characteristic shape: the fog goes in serpentine stripes or tongues, wraps itself in clubs, forms in the form of a pipe or a sleeve, in a word, constantly changes its shape and even shades.

Trapped in an unusual natural phenomenon, people lose not only a sense of orientation, but also the concept of time.

This ambivalent sense of time is drowsy or hypnotic. People experience the experience of wandering in the Letti fog as someone's evil sorcery.

And by nature, the curious realize that they have been in a fog that is completely different from an ordinary veil.

Sometimes you can contemplate a completely amazing picture - a ghostly mountain-pyramid is formed from the clouds of fog, and a delightful mirage can last for hours.

The most interesting thing is that the ghost of the pyramid appears in the area of the Agarmysh stone quarry, where not so long ago there really was a small pyramidal mountain.

There are hundreds of documented testimonies of people who have been in captivity of the Letyan Mist, and, it must be admitted, this is not just ordinary fog. Some of the eyewitnesses plunged into a deep hallucinogenic sleep and then for a whole week was in a state of heightened sleepiness and lethargy, someone seemed to ascend up and watched the world from a bird's eye view, even cases of movement in space and time are described.

The very name of the fog comes from the eponymous Letiya stream, which was once a river called Leta ("sink into oblivion").

The river Lethe is often associated with the river of the dead Styx, along which the silent Charon transported the souls of dead people to the kingdom of Hades.

At the beginning of the 20th century, at the foot of Agarmysh, there were hot hydrogen sulfide springs, bathing in which healed from many diseases. Over time, the springs dried up - a certain underground river that fed them went down into the depths of the mountain.

There is a version that the Letyan Mist is the evaporation from this mysterious river periodically breaking through the layers of the earth and rocks, which may contain some hallucinogenic gases.

In the open air, the concentration of these vapors is not so high, therefore, in the worst cases, those who have been in captivity of the Letyan Mist can only experience hallucinations and an obsessive desire to sleep.

In the caves on the slopes of Agarmysh, the density of these gases is much higher and they already pose a mortal danger to humans, since one can fall into a state of "eternal sleep"; several cases of disappearance of amateur cavers in Agarmysh Caves are known.

But why does the Mist periodically acquire the shape of a pyramid? Where does the abundant evidence of movement in space and time come from? … These questions have not yet been answered.
