Manesh Kumar, a 45-year-old Indian, began to have health problems when he noticed blood in his urine while going to the toilet.

He did not experience any painful sensations either before or after, but decided to go to the doctor for a check-up.

On the X-ray, he was found to have two large kidney stones, each about 33 mm in diameter.

However, during the operation itself, the surgeons were surprised to see that in addition to two large stones, Manesh had hundreds of much smaller ones.

Moreover, all the stones were in only one kidney, the second was healthy. A total of 856 kidney stones were removed from the man.

His kidney was almost completely filled with these stones and one could only wonder that the Indian did not feel pain. However, almost all of the stones had no sharp edges and were smooth and round, which probably saved him.

“We performed the procedure Percutaneous nephrolithotomy (a gentle operation when stones are removed through a very small incision) through a 1 cm incision. The stones were concentrated only in the left kidney. The operation took place within two hours and all the stones were successfully removed,”says Dr. Rajidner Yadav from a clinic in New Delhi, who has performed more than 500 such operations.

The very next day after the operation, the patient was discharged from the hospital.

It is also reported that back in 2007, Manesh Kumar complained of pain in his left kidney and he also underwent a similar operation and removed several stones. So it turns out that all of these 856 new kidney stones have grown in the same kidney in just 11 years.
