A researcher from the University of Aarhus, along with his colleague from the University of Copenhagen, both universities located in Denmark, decided to use microorganisms in order to help the astronaut on Mars. According to experts, they will be able to print food and clothing on a 3D printer using two bacteria.

Planetary biology professor Kai Finster of Aarhus University thinks the idea of using just two bacteria is amazing. Since a 3D printer will greatly facilitate the luggage of a distant mission to the Red Planet, and the first colonizers will have everything they need for a normal life, since in any space expedition the main problem is a large amount of luggage.

The very process of creating food and irresistible clothing using cyanobacteria and hay sticks is quite simple: these cultures, which will be reprogrammed as necessary, can provide the necessary material for a 3D printer in a bioreactor.

For astronauts, healthy and proper food is very important, and with the help of microorganisms they will have the opportunity to get a huge amount of “earthly” food, for example, even hamburgers, according to the scientific representatives of the CosmiCrops project.
