The Canadian city of Calgary, located in the province of Alberta, has more than a million inhabitants and is known as a cultural center and a place of amazing beauty of nature. Like any large city, it has its own legends and stories, including tragic ones. The city still remembers the tragic events at one of the local schools, which are known as the "devil's playground." According to popular belief, the school was destroyed by a mysterious explosion and fire back in the 1950s. It happened in the summer, when the children were on vacation, and yet there were a lot of victims. Three children died in the basement of the building, one child was lucky to escape from the fire. After all this, the school was not rebuilt and closed.

Three versions of those events are widespread in the city.

According to one of them, the fire was caused by a local homeless man who spilled an alcoholic drink, then decided to light a cigarette and threw a match on the ground. Then it becomes unclear whether it was done on purpose or accidentally. If intentionally, then what was the reason for the arson, and if by accident, how did the homeless man end up on the school grounds.

Another version tells about a nun who was the headmaster of a school, she turned away from the Lord to serve Satan. As a sign of her loyalty to this enemy of the human race, she set fire to the school, and the dead children became victims to him.

The third version says that the woman-director had a lover who was fond of black magic and inclined her to the fiery act of sacrifice.

For a long time, screams and groans and strange lights were seen on the ruins of the burned down school. Even after a long time, from time to time a strong and pungent smell of smoke began to come from the ruins. Locals said that sometimes children's handprints appear on the windows of their cars. The voices of children could be heard from the vacant lot where the school's playground had once been. They say that these are the ghosts of the dead children who came to play in school, which they did not have a chance to finish.

All these rumors and strange events forced the local authorities to act. Many times they tried to dismantle the foundation of this school. But the cars were stalled, electrical equipment stopped working. The workers refused to work on this land, which they considered damned. The owner of the land was eager to remove any reminder of tragic events and made every effort to do so. It was only in 2017 that he finally managed to complete the work, and since then no supernatural incidents have been observed in the area.
