Kikimora is a kind of astral entity, which, it is believed, cannot arise by itself. She is a tool in the hands of sorcerers, which they used to influence people. According to Slavic beliefs, a kikimora is a restless or cursed soul of a sinner or an unbaptized child. Kikimora is a gentle and harmless creature, but it causes a lot of anxiety. She makes noise, makes sounds, cries, moves and drops objects. At a later time, all this began to be called a poltergeist. It was believed that if at night a kikimora makes sounds similar to the sound of a spindle, then this predicts something bad.
The presence of a kikimora can turn out to be a good omen only if in a certain area it becomes close to the image of the housewife, the wife of the brownie. In this case, she becomes the assistant to the hostess of the house and can calm down a crying child, make the dough become more fluffy, and in some other way helps women.
Kikimora can be appeased. You need to bake a shangu stuffed with potatoes or porridge or a flat cake with sour cream or butter and leave them overnight where the kikimora usually makes itself felt. If the treat in the morning is bitten, it will mean that the kikimora has accepted the offering and will no longer cause trouble. The same offering must be made for a person who saw the actions of the kikimora, so that she does not try to take revenge or return.
You can get rid of a faked, directed kikimora if you find a doll. Most often in houses, this doll was hidden in the attic or above the ceiling beam. The doll needs to be put on fire, but this should be done away from home, preferably where people do not walk. Another way to get rid of the kikimora is to throw a pectoral cross over it. It is believed that if this can be done, the kikimora will paralyze, and if she was a girl turned into a kikimora, then the spell will subside through a new baptism.
