Journalist Senan Molony (Senan Molony) said the true, in his opinion, the cause of the crash of the transatlantic steamer "Titanic". This was announced on Tuesday, January 3, by the Independent newspaper.
For 30 years, Moloney conducted scientific and historical research, trying to find out what really happened to the legendary ship. To do this, he studied photographs taken before sailing by electrical engineers at the Belfast shipyard. The journalist claims that in the photographs, near the place with which the steamer hit the iceberg, he noticed black footprints about nine meters long. In his opinion, this may indicate the damage that the Titanic had before it went sailing.
The Independent writes that experts have confirmed that the cause of these traces may be a fire in one of the fuel storage facilities near the boiler room. From their point of view, a fire could continue on the ship for several weeks, the crew tried to extinguish the flame, but the efforts of 12 people were not enough.
Moloney is sure that the owners of the Titanic ordered the staff to keep quiet about what was happening and to hide the incident from passengers.
The journalist concluded that the shell of the steamer was very hot from the fire, became too fragile, and when it collided with the iceberg, a large hole was formed in the hull. Consequently, the sinking of the Titanic was largely caused by fire and criminal negligence.
On December 1, it became known that the Chinese company Seven Star Energy Investment Group began building a life-size copy of the Titanic. It will be an attraction at the Romandisea International Resort in Sichuan province. According to company representatives, the project is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2017.
The British steamer Titanic sank in April 1912 on its maiden voyage as a result of an iceberg collision. On board the ship were over two thousand people, most of them died.
