A small lake in the Taldykurgan region of Kazakhstan stands out among other reservoirs due to its unusual properties. Even in summer, when only muddy puddles remain from all local lakes, it not only does not dry out, but also keeps the water temperature icy. Also, algae do not grow here, fish are not found, all types of aquatic insects are absolutely absent. It is assumed that toxic gas is released from a crevice at the bottom of the lake, killing all life.
It is also strange that it is impossible to stay in the waters of the Dead Lake for a long time. Even with a full tank of air, the diver cannot withstand more than 5 minutes and begins to suffocate for mysterious reasons, which almost always requires outside help to ascend to the surface.
People drown in this strange reservoir every year. Almost all the victims are reckless tourists. Local residents bypass these edges, and do not advise entering the waters of the lake - they say, the dead will be dragged to the bottom. What is noteworthy is that the drowned people do not rise to the surface, as is usually the case after a few days, but stand at the bottom, straight like candles.
