Fanti explained that the 3D image made it possible to see many wounds on the person, whose image is displayed on the Shroud. “I counted 370 wounds from the beatings, not counting the wounds on the sides, which were certainly on the body, but which are not visible on the Shroud, because it touched only the back and front of the body. In addition, three-dimensional reconstruction made it possible to reveal that at the time of the death of a person, the Shroud sagged to the right, the right shoulder was dislocated so seriously that it injured the nerves,”the researcher noted.
In 2013, Fanti co-authored a book by the Italian journalist Saverio Gaeta, who documented research on the Shroud and argued that it did belong to the era of Jesus Christ and is probably genuine.
