The Valley of the Mills (Valle dei mulini) is a gorge under the Piazza Tasso of the Sorrento Peninsula. It was once home to many watermills, powered by turbulent streams running along the bottom of a small canyon. Most of them have sunk into oblivion, but some long-abandoned medieval buildings have survived to this day.
A dilapidated mill is an echo of the past, reminding us that progress is inexorably advancing and time is slowly covering up its chain of tracks. People left this place at the beginning of the 20th century and since then it has become the subject of discussion and even scary stories.
Travelers often come here, but even the most curious photographers will not be able to descend into the overgrown canyon - sheer cliffs have guarded its peace from strangers for more than a century. The mill is considered empty and is protected as the country's cultural heritage, but on the Internet every now and then there are people who doubt its uninhabitedness.
Some could hear subtle strange sounds from below, while others claimed that occult rituals were held inside the building. Some have seen a strange light in the windows of the mill, as if a fire was blazing inside. There were repeated calls to the special services, but the guards of the law descending from the helicopter did not find any traces of fire, not a single living soul inside …
