This amazing but real case took place in South America. It is recorded in official documents. Moreover, they were compiled by people far from ufology, mysticism and occultism.
We will not be mistaken if we say that the main treasury of the South American country of Chile is the Andes Mountains. Their bowels store huge reserves of silver, copper and other ores. According to an ancient legend of the Chilean Indians, in some of the abandoned mines, metals are mined by creatures that have flown to Earth from the sky - huge iron snakes. It is better for people to stay away from these creatures.
In 1970, Salvador Allende came to power in Chile - the first legally elected president as a result of popular elections. Under him, the country embarked on the socialist path of development. The leadership of the USSR, embraced by the idea of spreading communism throughout the world, provided all kinds of assistance to such states, regardless of any costs.
Often, to the detriment of the well-being of their own people, fabulous sums were irretrievably and uselessly spent to support very dubious regimes on different continents. The main thing is that the socialist camp should expand!
In 1972, Salvador Allende turned to the General Secretary of the CPSU Central Committee Leonid Ilyich Brezhnev with a request to send Soviet specialists in order to survey the Chilean copper mines and determine the most promising and profitable of them for the resumption of mining. The request was fulfilled immediately.
Brotherly help and miracles
Already in November 1972, Soviet specialists Nikolai Popov and Efim Chubarin arrived in the Chilean town of Chiguana. Their task was to survey the old mines in order to conclude: is it worth continuing to develop them. One evening, resting after a hard day, Nikolai and Efim got into a conversation with an old Chilean miner, and during the conversation he remembered about the richest, in his words, copper deposit 40 kilometers north of the town and advised him to examine it.

True, this place enjoyed a very bad reputation among the local population. Those who once dared to go underground in those parts and remained unharmed at the same time said they saw huge snakes with iron heads there. Our miners, brought up in the spirit of atheism, of course, did not believe in such tales - you never know what anyone could have imagined! - and decided to inspect the mine. The very old miner who spoke of the underground monsters volunteered to accompany them there.
The path was not short, so we left before sunrise. We got there in the cold and, when it got very hot, we ended up at the abandoned entrance to the mine. It was so overgrown with grasses and bushes that it was almost invisible. Only an attentive eye could see a small hole leading into the depths of the earth.
Sliding into the hole, Chubarov and Popov were surprised to find a strange passage, rounded like a metro tunnel, about two meters in diameter, going down at an angle of about thirty degrees. The conductor suddenly began to fuss and began to apologize to the Soviet specialists: he supposedly did not know that the Moon Serpent, who had appeared from the sky, had not left the mine, but decided to settle in it. Real fantasy! Or, more simply, some kind of nonsense! Our guys were not timid, therefore, not paying attention to the warning cries of the guide, they began to descend along a mysterious passage to find out where he was leading.
Soon the passage became horizontal and led to a large mine, on the walls of which large copper veins sparkled. Copper ingots were piled everywhere. And then, behind the ingots, the dumbfounded miners saw a fantastic "earner" - a huge snake-like mechanism. Falling to the copper vein, he literally "gnawed" the ore from the walls of the adit, leaving untouched waste rock!
What an incredible, unprecedented unit ?! Is this the latest autonomous copper harvester the dream of every miner? Smaller “snakes” were also found underground: about two meters in length and twenty centimeters in diameter. The "snake" managed to grab part of the heel on the boot. This means that the locals were not afraid of "snakes" in vain - some mysterious creatures really settled in the abandoned mine.
The secret of the mine
Fearing that they would be mistaken for abnormalities, the Soviet miners (order is order!) Nevertheless wrote a report on what had happened and handed it over to their leaders. Assessing the prospects of the abandoned mine, they noted that it contains the richest reserves of copper. Its extraction could more than cover all the Union's expenses to support the regime of Salvador Allende. The miners, as mentioned above, were atheists, and therefore did not believe in mysticism.
On reflection, they decided that no one knows whose, most likely American - the newest, on the verge of fantasy - technology, which the Soviet Union had not even heard of, was being tested in the mine. In their opinion, small "snakes" penetrated into places inaccessible for a large mechanism, "eating" small veins, and at the same time performed a protective function. No wonder they rushed to meet the intruders!
The miners' report attracted the interest of the relevant departments - "those who should." At the end of August 1973, a special group was sent to Chile to clarify the circumstances on the spot. But the group did not manage to get to the mine and penetrate into its secret. In September 1973, Chilean President Salvador Allende was overthrown and assassinated.
The junta (military government), which came to power in the country, led by General Augusto Pinochet, established a regime of the most severe terror. There was no question of dialogue with him, dreams of expanding the socialist camp, as well as mining, collapsed. The special group had to return to the USSR with nothing.
So the representatives of our country lost the opportunity to understand this mysterious case. A unique chance to find out what the mysterious Moon Serpent was and to get in touch with him and his masters was missed. It's a pity. Such a meeting would certainly help expand our understanding of the unknown world and, perhaps, even lead us to the expected contact with extraterrestrial civilizations. Although it is quite possible that the legend of the Snake was invented by those who were very profitable to develop the bowels of a foreign country and use their wealth.
