Officially, this abandoned settlement is called Boston Mills, and unofficially for the many terrible things that happen here, it is called "Helltown" - Helltown.
Helltown is lost in the hinterland of Summit County, Ohio. Several houses are still preserved here, and the railway tracks are in good condition, but all this is overgrown with grass and trees.
Boston Mills was founded by French settlers in the 17th century, and the city itself was founded in 1806. It was a prosperous place for a long time, but in the 1960s the US government decided to establish Cuyahoga Valley National Park in this place.
The city's lands began to be actively bought up, and residents left here one after another. The wealthiest tried to argue with the authorities, but achieved nothing and were forced to abandon their large private homes. By 1974, there was no one left here.
The remains of large houses mostly make up the bulk of today's Helltown, because the smaller ones were burned down or fell apart themselves. And the project with the national park was never realized. Boston Mills quickly grew over the next decades and nature took its toll back.
It's hard to say where the stories of paranormal activity in the abandoned remains of Boston Mills came from and who first named it Helltown. This probably began after various religious communities, mainly Satanists, began to travel here and leave their eerie graffiti on their homes.
Then there were stories about the bodies of dismembered animals found here and there. It was said that animals were sacrificed during frightening rituals. And then they began to find the dismembered remains of people here.

Then there was talk that in the building of the old church a red fire was burning in the windows at night. Then many roads leading to the city were blocked by someone and blocked for the entry of cars. There are prohibition signs there now.
Another eerie legend is associated with a rusting school bus previously parked near the entrance to the city. They say that these are the remains of a bus that somehow brought children here on an excursion from a neighboring city and someone killed these children, or all one by one or some of them. Either a maniac, or those same sectarians. After that, the roads were blocked.

Another series of sinister legends is associated with an abandoned slaughterhouse that no longer exists. It was said that in this place a local maniac butchered his victims before throwing their remains into the forest.
There are also stories that in the 1980s in the vicinity of Helltown a truck with toxic waste overturned, which caused a mutation of local animals and plants.
The most popular of the mutated animals is a kind of "peninsula python" (Peninsula Python) - a huge snake that can even attack humans. All of this is from the same realm of urban legends as the story of the maniac. There are no officially confirmed facts of a toxic waste spill.
Another story tells about a small house standing alone among the trees, in the windows of which you can see the light. Allegedly, a witch and ghosts live in the house.
Another spooky place is the old Boston Mills cemetery. Sometimes there they notice vague silhouettes walking among overgrown graves.
Helltown is regularly visited by various "ghost hunters" and just fans to tickle their nerves. As if the city does not let go of some of them, and the person disappears without a trace.
