Lady in black
The legend about the lady in black is associated with the building of the Chernoyarovsky passage on the Kremlin. The building was built in 1901. Its first owner, Dmitry Chernoyarov, decided to merge the building with the neighboring Aleksandrovsky Passage. The plan was hampered by the small house of the Veniaminovs, between the passages. According to one version, Veniaminov was thinking about moving to another place, but his wife was against it. Soon the house burned down together with the owner, and Chernoyarov began construction. A week later, a fire broke out in the back rooms of the masons. The workers refused to work and fled without calculation. They were talking about some lady in black. Probably, this is Veniaminov's wife. Chernoyarov stopped construction: the buildings were never united. The passage burned three more times in different years.
