In the British medical journal British Medical Journal Case Reports, a rare case of a person of unknown sex was recently described.

A resident of Portugal until 42 years old did not know exactly what gender he was. He had a completely masculine face, but the figure was practically hairless and with wide hips, that is, according to the female type.

The patient also had a fairly developed chest.

His voice was thin and almost feminine, but he had a penis. At the same time, there were no testicles at all.

When the man went to the doctors for help, they were puzzled. First of all, the fact that the patient lived for so long in an "incomprehensible" state, and secondly, the circumstances of his birth were unknown, since his parents almost immediately abandoned him.

The man tried to live like a man, but much in his appearance betrayed a woman in him. At first, the doctors decided he was intersex. This is a condition when there are both male and female signs in the body at the same time and it is impossible to determine the gender. Previously, such people were more often called hermaphrodites.

However, the doctors decided to carefully examine the patient. They gave him an ultrasound to find out if his testicles were stuck in his stomach and if there were female genital organs there, and they did not find anything similar inside his body.

But then they decided that his testicles had suffered in the womb and that the patient was still a full-fledged man. According to the doctors, during the development of the fetus, the testicles were twisted and they lost their blood supply and fell off on their own.

The patient initially complained to the doctors about the problem that he was too much like a woman. From childhood he considered himself a man and he liked women. But due to problems with self-determination, he had no sex life for all 42 years.

Due to the lack of testicles, very little of the male hormone testosterone was produced in his body and therefore his body developed in the female pattern as it does in eunuchs.

As a result, the man was diagnosed with a rare diagnosis of Disappeared Testes Syndrome and prescribed to take testosterone. Most often, a similar syndrome is diagnosed at an early age and then people no longer have any gender problems.

The patient was injected with 250 mg of testosterone intramuscularly every three weeks and after three months his voice became coarse, a beard began to grow on his face, his chest decreased and a large supply of energy appeared. The patient also admitted that his attraction to women has increased.
