Specialists of Rosprirodnazdor in St. Petersburg discovered blue-colored snow. It was found on the sidewalk of Aptekarsky Prospekt near the building to be demolished, the press service of the department told Interfax on Tuesday, December 26.

Samples of light blue and violet shades were sent for analysis. Interim results will be received shortly.

Local residents believe that the snow came from a chemical-pharmaceutical research institute, Channel Five reports. Unusual precipitation, they said, spread in waves, and the thickness of the colored cover is about one centimeter.

Eyewitnesses are posting images of the blue snow on social media. “It seems the Smurfs did not manage to leave the demolished pharmaceutical plant,” one of them joked.

In February 2015, Rospotrebnadzor established that the cause of the blue snow in Chelyabinsk was food coloring for Easter eggs, which accidentally got into the ventilation system of the workshop and dispersed in the surrounding area.
