Churches in Scurtesti in southern Romania flooded with parishioners after a local woman claimed that the ghost of her late grandmother had filmed herself on her mobile phone. “When I picked up the phone, I was horrified to see the face of my late grandmother on the screen,” says 34-year-old Gina Mihai.

According to the woman, something like a snake was wrapped around the deceased's neck. In general, the photo looked like it was taken through a hole, as if the grandmother had been shot through a hole in the fabric separating the world of the living from the world of the dead.

Taking the picture, the woman went to a fortune teller who told her that it was her grandmother who was sending messages from the other side. The snake around the neck is supposedly a symbol of the fact that she was punished in another life for her sins.

“When she reached out to us, she wanted to say that we must pray for her and that we can still save her soul,” Gina said in an interview with Mail Online.

After the message from the afterlife, Mihai and her family spent most of their time in church in prayer with dozens of other families who were horrified by the possibility that the necks of their deceased relatives were also entwined with snakes.

In Romania, there is a memorial day, during which people go to cemeteries and give food to the spirits of deceased relatives. In fact, food is handed out to the poor at the end of the day, but this gesture is seen as support for those who have died and are now in the afterlife.

“My grandmother died three years ago and I did not bring any food for her to the cemetery. When a picture of her appeared on my phone, I was making donuts. Trying not to get my phone dirty, I put it in my pocket, and when I took it, there was this image,”Mihai said.

The fortune-teller told the woman that her grandmother had contacted her during cooking for a reason and since then Mihai has been taking donuts to the cemetery every day. According to another relative of the deceased, the priest advised the family to visit the church and cemetery for 40 days to make up for all the time they missed.
