In the Kargopol State Historical-Architectural and Art Museum there is a photograph with a ghost. The photo was taken in the first post-war years.

The commemorative photo includes the pupils of the elementary school of the village of Eskinskaya, located near the village of Arkhangello, 56 kilometers from Kargopol. The granite of science in it, at that time, was "gnawed" by only seven schoolchildren, quietly placed on the card together with two teachers.

After printing the photos, it turned out that an unexpected guest had arrived at the guys. Another girl got into the group of schoolchildren. In her long white robe, she stood modestly behind everyone. The highlight of the newly-minted photo model was the outlines of the house, calmly shining through her clothes. In addition, people who first looked at the picture were struck by the girl's wide-open eyes. As if their owner of something was very frightened.

Girl story

The girl was recognized almost immediately. She died in a house that became a school after the war in the late 1930s. That is, at least five years before the photo was taken. The girl was a pupil of the former Count Kolotukhin, a respected person in the village. The count came from the First World War as a Knight of St. George with two crosses. He was able to organize the farm so that the allotment in his village became one of the most exemplary farms. The count's authority was so great that he was left in charge of his estate even after the revolutionary storms of 1917.

Unfortunately, even the authority could not save Kolotukhin from the merciless "mallet" of 1937. The count was repressed by sending him in an unknown direction. The repressive machine swallowed up a person respected by all without a trace. After disappearing, his pupil remained in charge of the count's economy. Remained, alas, not for long. The girl died a year later. I burned out, unsuccessfully closing the oven damper. After this sad event, rumors spread throughout the village that the count's pupil had been helped to die.

Horror

The village also became agitated after receiving news of the mysterious photograph. Nobody wanted to receive greetings from the other world. At the village gathering held in the stable, the main gathering place for all the villagers, it was decided to destroy the printed photographs so as not to incur evil spirits. Of the nine photographs, one managed to survive, thank God.

He was saved thanks to an unexpected move to the village of Arkhangello of his owner Misha Gryazov. The boy captured in the photo went to a new place of residence with his father, who was appointed Chairman of the Village Council. There, the dangerous photo was simply lost in the albums, happily preserved to this day.

A cousin of Mikhail Fedorovich Nikolai Zakharovich gave the photo to the museum.

- I - Nikolai Gryazov recalls - although I first saw this photo two years ago, I knew about it for a long time. Since 1953, I have worked as a shepherd in five nearby villages. Grazing the cattle of fellow villagers while they were at work. With me as a respected person, they shared all the news. They also told me about horror photography.

The snapshot, and several years after its official destruction, continued to instill fear in people. Strengthening from the fact that the owners of the photographs, who decided to get rid of them, began to die one after another.

Nikolai Zakharovich stumbled upon a photo "with devilry" while studying the photo archive of his cousin. He did this at the request of the directorate of the Kargopol Museum. In this cultural institution, the supplier of an unexpected rarity has been working as an electrician for many years. The museum workers asked him to look for wartime photographs from local residents. The unexpected find of Nikolai Zakharovich became one of the most interesting exhibits for museum visitors.
