By touching a 300-year-old tree, residents of Zadonsk, Lipetsk region, hope to get rid of diseases and find God's grace. A mighty tree sprouted through the wall of the house so that one side was inside the building, and the other outside.

“Our family moved here after the war,” says 83-year-old Varvara Polyakova. - Friends gave shelter. But with the condition: do not touch the oak. They said that three centuries ago Bishop Tikhon of Zadonsk liked to rest under it.

Over time, the large family became cramped - they decided to make an extension. Barbara's husband sent workers to cut down the tree.

- The men run into the house, they say, they began to saw the oak, and from it sounds were heard, as if singing. Precisely in the church, - says Baba Varya. - We dropped this case, left. The husband employed other workers as well. But only they took up the instrument, as the oak began to sing. We decided: let it grow.

In 1973, after the funeral of her husband, Varvara and his relatives heard familiar sounds.

- It seemed that the oak was not just singing, but reading akathists, - the pensioner recalls. - To the nearest church - Our Lady of Sorrow - half a kilometer - from there the sounds could not reach. Since then, singing coming from the oak has been often heard.

Six years ago it sounded when Polyakova's daughter died.

- My daughter lived in Murmansk. The robbers got into her apartment, and they broke her head herself, - says Polyakova. - I went out into the yard and heard a familiar melody. Galya died that very day.

And there was also a miracle. In the middle of the night, the old woman was awakened by a voice. She looked out the window - next to the oak tree was a woman in white. “You will touch a tree, you will heal people,” said the ghost and disappeared. The pensioner really discovered a gift for healing. One advises tincture on acorns, others - to touch the bark of a tree. If you stand for a few minutes, hugging an oak tree, diseases go away, and grace spreads over the body.

And in the late 90s, the tree began to cry with bloody tears.

Scientists from the Belarusian Institute of Theology named after Saints Methodius and Cyril conducted a study. It turned out that the scarlet liquid is myrrh of red color. From time to time the oak streams myrrh. Scientists have cut a twig and photographed. Having enlarged the photograph, we saw an image of a praying person on the cut.

In the Lipetsk and Yelets dioceses, they know about Varvara Polyakova and her miracle tree. But, they say, in church literature about the life of Tikhon Zadonsky, there are no descriptions associated with him. And they advise the Orthodox not to fall into paganism and go to pray not to an oak tree, but to a temple.

"Burning Bush" has grown into the trunk of a century-old pine

The tradition of tree worship dates back to pre-Christian times. The priests of the ancient Celts - the Druids, cut off the mistletoe that grew on it from the oak, from which they cooked an elixir for diseases. According to legends, druids were able to make trees move and often turned them into warriors who fell on enemies. The ancient Jews considered the oak and turpentine to be the first among the sacred trees.

Numerous miracles are associated with trees.

* In March of this year, in the town of Stryi, Lviv region, the face of the Mother of God appeared on a maple cut in a city park. The pilgrims tumbled to the wonderful tree. They lit candles, asked the Mother of God for health, pinched off the bark, which they brewed at home like tea.

* A silhouette of a woman with a baby in her arms appeared on the cut of an old pear in the Ukrainian village of Starichivka in the Poltava region in February 2010. A prayer service was served before the wonderful image. The image was constantly changing - the contours became clearer. Several years earlier, Ukrainians had witnessed another miracle: an image of a cross was found on the split parts of a beech cut in the Mukachevo forest in Western Ukraine.

* On November 19, 1996, a resident of the town of Yuzha, Ivanovo Region, began to heat the stove and pulled out an unlit log from the fire - there was an icon of the Mother of God “Burning Bush” in the tree, which had grown into the trunk of a century-old pine tree. How she got there, no one knows. The felled pine tree grew in the factory cemetery, where in 1900 a chapel-church was built. In 1924 the chapel was destroyed and the cemetery was razed to the ground.
