Some mysterious stories continue to excite the imagination of people year after year, generation after generation …

Who was DB Cooper?

The most incredible theories and legends will surround the personality of the mysterious hijacker of the Cooper's DB plane for a long time to come.

On November 24, 1971, an unremarkable man boarded a Boeing 727 that took off from Portland.

Shortly after takeoff, he called a flight attendant and announced that there was a bomb in his briefcase, which he would detonate if his conditions were not met.

He demanded $ 200,000 in cash, a pair of parachutes, and a plane to take him to Mexico.

The hijacked aircraft landed urgently in Seattle, after which all 36 passengers were released.

All the requirements of the hijacker were met. Cooper ordered the pilots to fly as slow and lower as possible and leave the tailgate unlocked.

However, the hijacker did not reach its destination. Taking the money, he jumped out while the plane flew over Oregon.

Since then, nothing has been known about his fate, and the marked money has never been seen in circulation.

To this day, the whole world is wondering who the mysterious DB Cooper was, who committed the only unsolved hijacking in the history of aviation.

What happened to the crew of the Sarah Joe?

On February 11, 1979, five friends from the town of Hana, located on the Hawaiian island of Maui, decided to go fishing.

They boarded a small ship called the Sarah Joe and set off.

It was a clear, quiet day, but if the men had looked at the weather forecast, they would have known that a sea storm was moving.

About two hours after the boat set sail, a violent storm broke out. Communication with the Sarah Joe passengers was lost.

Only the next day, the Coast Guard, together with dozens of volunteers, were able to start looking for the missing.

For a week they combed the ocean and scanned the water surface from the air, but in vain. There were no signs of a boat or people anywhere.

A week later, the official rescue operation was terminated. Nevertheless, relatives and friends of the victims spent another three weeks inspecting remote small islands, where the ship could hypothetically be nailed.

Finally, when these searches were unsuccessful, the men were declared dead.

About 10 years have passed and this story has already been forgotten. But suddenly on the tiny Taongi Atoll, 2,200 miles from Hawaii, marine biologists stumbled upon an abandoned boat without a motor. It was “Sarah Joe”.

There was nothing and no one either inside or near the boat. However, biologists soon saw a shallow grave on which stood intertwined driftwood - a kind of cross.

Analysis confirmed that the remains belonged to one of the missing men. But who buried him and where did everyone else go? No one knows.

Bouvet Island mystery

Bouvet Island is perhaps one of the coldest and most isolated places on earth. The closest land to it is the coast of Antarctica, located 1750 km to the south. And this is a little further than Cape Town and Tristan da Cunha.

90% of this island is covered with glaciers, under which an active volcano slumbers. Getting to Bouvet is most often possible only by helicopter

So, imagine the surprise of the members of the South African expedition in 1964 when they saw an abandoned boat without an engine and sails in the lagoon of the island!

On the bank were oars, a flattened copper tank, and a barrel.

Due to the harsh climatic conditions, the sailors stayed on the island for only 45 minutes, but during the inspection they did not find any traces of human presence.

How could such a primitive ship end up in the middle of the ocean?

But the most interesting thing is that the expedition, which arrived on Bouvet two years later, did not find any boat or things lying on the shore.

Mysticism, and more!
