Sometimes traces of different peoples are found where, in principle, they should not be. For example, a Viking settlement was found in North America.

There is a place in Russia that (presumably) could have been inhabited by … the Celts. We are talking about the Kremenkul wells found near Chelyabinsk.

These objects have been known for a long time. But earlier they were attributed to the XVIII-XIX centuries. The creation of the wells was attributed to the Cossacks. They lived in the area during this period. Water was constantly required both for themselves and for the animals.

There are about 7 wells in the Chelyabinsk region. They are shallow - up to 10 m. Local historian Yuri Zavyalov was engaged in research.

It turned out that gas was accumulating there. It is not recommended to go down without special means.

Researcher Alexander Shestakov suggests that the wells may be associated with the Celts. They strongly resemble their ritual mines. Scientists associate them with the ideas of the ancient people about the afterlife. But where could the Celts come from in the Chelyabinsk region? And they lived thousands of years ago.

Not everything is so simple. Yes, the Cossacks (and not only) really could use these wells. They are made with high quality and it is not surprising if they have existed for centuries, or even millennia. They could also be used by local peoples inhabiting this territory. And the Cossacks, in order not to build a new one, simply could exploit old wells.

But how did the Celts come here? As you know, they lived in Western Europe. Yes, in different periods they migrated, but they never went that far. Even during the Great Migration, they remained to live in Europe. At least according to written sources and archaeological finds.

It can be assumed that a small group of Celts moved to the area of modern Chelyabinsk. In theory, this was possible. Eventually, Viking settlements were found in North America. To do this, they had to swim across the ocean, and in the case of the Celts, we are talking about moving overland for several thousand kilometers to the east.

A group of settlers could create these wells. But, in this case, we will have to explain why there are no archaeological finds associated with the Celts. If they lived here, they should have left something behind, except for the wells. Perhaps we are talking about a very small number of settlers, from whom nothing has come down to this day. On the other hand, no one could and will not move here. After all, all assumptions about the Celts in the Chelyabinsk region are based only on a kind of interpretation of the creation of wells.

So who is right on this point? Supporters of traditional history will not agree with the presence of Celts in the region. After all, in fact, there is no evidence of this. However, alternative specialists may argue that the necessary artifacts have not yet been found. Which of them is right - time will tell!
