The concept of a celibacy wreath appeared in the pagan period of the existence of the Russian and other Slavic peoples. The crown of celibacy is a widespread and now superstition, based on the superstition that as a result of some magical influence a person may be deprived of the opportunity to find his love and marry. Hence the name - "the crown of celibacy", the crown, dooming to a life without marriage.
Signs of a celibate crown
If a pretty and economical girl could not get married for a long time, her relatives seriously believed that her daughter was jinxed or imposed a celibacy crown on her. He was considered a huge obstacle to personal happiness, because he condemned a person to a lonely life for the rest of his days.
Marriages were contracted early in Russia. Daughters were married at 12-15, and sons were married at 14-17. As soon as someone "sat up" in the girls / suitors a little longer than the prescribed time, as relatives began to sound the alarm. Mothers and grandmothers were especially worried. They spoke of the celibacy crown if:
- representatives of the opposite sex did not pay attention to a pretty girl / boy;
- if there were any invitations "to go to the fair together", etc., then it never came to the wedding;
- the girl has long stepped over the extreme border of "marriageable age" (18-20 years), and there were never matchmakers in her house;

All of this is vivid evidence that a celibate crown could have been imposed on a person or even his ancestors. In this case, the relatives turned to the village sorceress for help so that she would remove the crown by means of a special rite of white magic.
What do psychologists say?
Modern psychologists associate the existence of the phenomenon of "celibacy wreath" with certain patterns of behavior, which are subconsciously copied from ancestors by subsequent generations. For example, if a mother does not have a personal life, she may unconsciously project her resentment towards men to her little daughter. At the subconscious level, the girl has a negative attitude towards the opposite sex and a disbelief that she herself may sometime be happy.
Growing up, she behaves in such a way as to repel guys in every possible way. This happens unconsciously, but in the end it leads to the expected result: the girl is left alone, internally, as if confirming the maternal attitude that all men are scoundrels and happiness with none of them is possible. Going to witches in this case is useless. A much better result is obtained by working with a psychologist.
