A strange deep-sea animal, which outwardly resembles a cross between a crocodile and a dolphin, washed up on the shores of the Australian Macquarie lake (Macquarie).
Local resident Ethan Tipper photographed the monster and posted the pictures on the Internet, asking for help from users of social networks in identifying the creature, reports The Daily Mail.
Many versions and guesses have surfaced on social media, but according to Australian Museum marine and freshwater expert Mark McGrouther, he thinks it is the Daily Mail Australia he suspects it is a predatory fish of the Muraenesox bagio family. She lives in deep water in the east of Australia.
The expert noted that he had previously only studied it from books and had never seen it live. He also suggested that the fish died, caught on the hook by fishermen, who could not pull their catch due to its large mass and cut the line.
Fish of this species have thin jaws and large, sharp teeth in the front of the lower jaw and on the larynx. Adults grow up to 2 meters in length. They are nocturnal and feed on fish and crustaceans.
