The technical pedigree of implants goes back to a device called the stimosiver, invented in the late 1950s by the neurosurgeon Jose Delgado. The most authoritative researcher of abductions, Bud Hopkins, clarifies that thin needles with a ball 2.5 mm in diameter and with fibers protruding from it are usually inserted into the nostrils or under the eyeball.
