In the temple of Mayan inscriptions in Palenque, archaeologist Albert Roush discovered a staircase leading to a crypt, located 25 meters underground. It contained a massive sarcophagus, covered with a carved stone slab. It weighed five tons and was adorned with the image of a young man with a large nose and Mongoloid features, seated leaning back on a monster. This figure could very well have been an astronaut piloting a vimaana. Under the inner lid was a half-decayed skeleton of a man about 2 meters tall, that is, higher than the average Maya. His red-colored teeth were not chipped in the fashion of the local nobility. The face was covered with a magnificent mask made of two hundred pieces of jadeite, similar to those golden masks under which the faces of the Aegean dead, discovered by Heinrich Schliemann in Mycenae, were hidden. Some experts believethat the found skeleton belonged to Kukulkan himself, others - to a space alien who was among the ancient Mayans, since the gods who descended to Earth in Vimanas are mentioned in Sanskrit classics and legends around the world. J. Tarad and A. Milou made a bold assumption that the Mayan hieroglyphs are fraught with some kind of galactic message:

“These hieroglyphs probably refer to the rules for controlling the spacecraft. The man we see in the sculptures and whom we call “pilot” wears a helmet and looks towards the bow of the ship, his hands are busy and seem to be operating levers, his head rests on the headrest, and breathing tubes are inserted into his nose. The bird located on the bow of the ship is a parrot, which, according to the Maya, symbolizes the sun god. In the same place, on the nose, we find three “receivers” that accumulate energy, and other “catchers”, forming three groups - three on the right, three in front and three on the left. The ship's power plant, divided into four sections, is located behind the pilot. The action of the traction force is clearly shown, depicted in the form of a flame at the stern of the vimaana. It is presented as a component of two intertwining opposing forces,of which one has as a source solar energy (touching the tail of a bird), and the other - earthly or magnetic, which is elementarily symbolized by two masks.

Other researchers believe that the remains of a Mayan leader who lived around the 7th century BC were buried in the Palen tomb. They do not take into account the apparent similarity of the image with the temple frescoes and sculptures imbued with obvious cosmic symbolism, as well as with the figurines in helmets kept in the National Museum.
