For four years, the number of newly sick cancers amounted to one million five hundred thousand people. In two thousand and eight, there were twelve point seven-tenths of a million people with oncology. In the twelfth year, there were fourteen million such people.

In the first place among the diagnosed cases and causes of death is lung cancer. Members of world medical organizations made such conclusions based on data on twenty-eight types of cancer obtained from one hundred and eighty-four countries of the world.

Deaths in the eighth year were seven and a half million. In the twelfth, over eight million. If we evaluate this dynamics, then by the twenty-fifth year a little more than nineteen million people will be sick with cancer. Fifty-six percent of diseases and sixty-four percent of deaths occur in economically lagging countries. And by the twenty-fifth year, these numbers will only grow.

In the twelfth year, the most recorded cases of lung cancer. This is thirteen percent of all cases. Breast cancer is eleven percent. Bowel cancer - nine and a half percent. They also die in the world most often from lung cancer - nineteen percent of the total number of deaths.

Liver cancer is in second place in mortality - nine percent. Stomach cancer is in third place - eight percent. Breast cancer cases are on the rise - a twenty percent increase. Dying from this type of cancer has become more frequent by fourteen percent. Breast cancer is the leading cause of cancer deaths among women.

A large proportion of cancer patients are in Russia, where all the advanced methods of cancer treatment are allegedly used, but personnel policy is “lame on both legs”

At the same time, an increase in the number of cancer patients in Russia is associated with an increase in life expectancy and a better diagnosis of this disease, explained Mikhail Davydov, director of the Blokhin Russian Cancer Research Center. “The population began to live longer, and the older the population, the more oncology became. Another reason is the better detection of oncology,”the expert notes. According to him, 500 thousand people fall ill with cancer in Russia every year, and about 300 thousand die.

Davydov complained about the catastrophic shortage of professional oncologists in the country. “The staffing is poor. There are a lot of cases when doctors in oncology centers are not professional oncologists,”said the head of the oncology center. “Today personnel policy is still lame on both legs,” he complained.

Davydov also emphasized that the main method of combating cancer is identifying them in the early stages, and prevention should be a healthy lifestyle and rejection of bad habits.

The expert added that poor ecology, smoking, excessive alcohol consumption and unhealthy lifestyle are among the first causes of cancer. But the effect of the use of genetically modified organisms (GMOs) on cancer incidence has not yet been proven, according to Davydov. “There is no such scientifically substantiated data. It is necessary to devote separate studies to this,”he said.
