Hell and Earth touch each other
Let's talk about the attitude of some groups of inhabitants of the astral world to earthly mankind. First of all, this has to do with the souls of people who have crossed the threshold of the grave. What is their relationship to us, who live within the boundaries of three dimensions?
It depends, firstly, on the spiritual level of the disembodied soul, and secondly, on our own spiritual and moral nature, including our karmic accumulations. After death, the spiritual and moral essence of a person practically does not change. The changes consist only in strengthening his basic spiritual qualities. The soul of a person, which was vicious and spiritless during earthly life, receives corresponding karmic reward in the afterlife in the lower, hellish regions of the Subtle World.
As Annie Besant wrote about these souls, “who have not changed in anything except the loss of the physical body, people here flaunt their passions in all their nakedness; and, full of fierce unsatisfied yearnings, seething with revenge and hatred, thirsting for physical gratification, which, having lost their physical body, they can no longer enjoy, they prowl, furious and greedy, in this gloomy area, crowding around all the dirty dens on earth, around public houses and taverns, inciting their regulars to shameful deeds and violence, and infiltrating them in order to involve them in all kinds of excesses. The sickening atmosphere that spreads around these places comes mainly from these earthbound astral entities that radiate vile passions and impure desires."
What the souls of vicious people do in such dark places can be judged by the description given in the book by Elsa Barker "Letters of the Living Dead". This book is one of the most interesting works of art dedicated to the problems of the posthumous existence of consciousness. The book by E. Barker speaks of the other world on behalf of a person who, after his death, retained a telepathic connection with the author of the book and thus transmitted to her his personal impressions of wandering in different spheres and planes of the supermundane world.
Here is how he described a meeting with one of the inhabitants of the lower astral "Living Deceased": "Once, driven by the desire to find that special kind of hell, to which a drunkard should be attracted, I found that part of the astral sphere that corresponds to one of the countries where drunkenness is especially flourishing … I met no difficulty and soon found a hell filled with drunkards. It is not surprising that people with a sensitive organization do not like taverns so much.

A young man with a restless gaze and a suffering face entered one of those "wine palaces" in which thick gilding and brilliant polishing of fake mahogany inspire the unfortunate traveler that he is enjoying the luxury of "a kingdom from this world." The young man's clothes were shabby, and his shoes had seen many kinds. The face was not shaved for a long time. He leaned over the counter, greedily emptying his glass of some kind of soul-destroying concoction. And next to him, taller than him and bending over him so that a repulsive, swollen, terrible face was pressed against the face of a young man, as if in order to inhale his alcoholic breath, stood one of the most terrible astral beings, which I had to be seen in this world. The hands of this creature gripped the body of the young man, one long arm wrapped around his shoulders, the other wrapped around his hips. It literally sucked out the wine-soaked vitality of its victim, absorbing them, absorbing them in order to satisfy through them its passion, which death only increased tenfold.

Was this creature from the realm of hell? - you ask. Yes, for I could see his inner state and be convinced of his suffering. Forever (the word "forever" can be used for what seems infinite) it was doomed to thirst and thirst and never find satisfaction.
Only that part of his consciousness remained in him that once made him a man, that weak spark that gave him from time to time a fleeting insight into the monstrous horror of his own situation. Because as soon as the soul is preserved, the same that is abandoned by the soul,must perish and disintegrate into its component parts.
And the young man, leaning against the counter of this gilded alcoholic palace, felt an inexpressible horror and tried to leave this place; but the hands of the creature who was now his master were gripping him stronger and stronger, the disgusting cheek covered with vapors pressed closer and closer to his cheek, the vampire's desire caused a reciprocal desire in his sacrifice, and the young man demanded another glass.
Truly, earth and hell touch each other, and there are no boundaries drawn between them.
I have seen a hell of lust and a hell of hatred; the hell of deceit, where any object that the inhabitant of hell tried to grab turns into something else, the opposite of the desired object, where there was an eternal mockery of the truth, and where there was nothing real, where everything became - changeable and wrong like the lie itself - its own antithesis …

Would such a person want to see the faces of his beloved friends? The desired is fulfilled, but as soon as the desired faces appear, they immediately turn into grinning furies. Will he want to remember the fruits of his ambition? They sweep before him only to turn into shame, transforming pride into powerless shame. Would he want to shake hands with a friend? The hand will reach out to him, but a knife is captured in it, which pierces the liar's insides without destroying him, and all the same fruitless attempts are renewed again and again until the painful consciousness is completely exhausted."
… As mentioned earlier, this entity was an elementary. However, not only this class of beings is engaged in vampirism in the lower astral plane. Among those living in the "hellish" layers of vicious souls there are beings who have not yet completely lost their spiritual origin.
The saddest thing is that most of the people living on Earth are subject to the corrupting influences of vampiric astral beings. At the same time, the levels and degrees of susceptibility to these other material "instigators" can be very different - from a periodic impact on the consciousness of a person who accidentally finds himself in the field of their activity, to the "settling" of an astral larva into the subtle body of a donor person "chosen" by her. In the latter case, it is about obsession. Most mental disorders have this unnatural condition as their true cause. A phenomenon known in psychiatry, called multiple personality disorder, in many cases (but not in all) is explained by the same.
The "stormy activity" of the inhabitants of the lower strata of the astral plane has a negative effect on the spiritual development of all earthly mankind. Living Ethics repeatedly says that the abundance of undeveloped and vicious souls in the lower layers of the astral layer greatly complicates the evolution of all other people: “Of course, the clogging of the nearest spheres around the planet is very destructive. The lower subtle bodies, like swindlers in the bazaar, huddle, making it difficult to successfully form the spiral of construction. One must have a special urge to penetrate beyond these terrible accumulations. So, when we talk about the need to purify psychic energy by refining thinking, we mean the purification of the lower spheres. In the language of the church, you need to defeat the hordes of hell."
But in reality, not every person, even from among those who sincerely strives for self-improvement, succeeds in “defeating the hordes of hell”.
No matter how implausible at first glance the statements about the ability of negative creatures of the astral plane to influence the human psyche, up to its complete enslavement, may seem at first glance, modern science has a lot of evidence of the reality of this phenomenon.
