An amazing legend has survived in Germany since ancient times. She talks about the cases of the disappearance of babies that took place right in front of the shocked parents. Sometimes the children would return just as suddenly. An old belief says that children who underwent such a transfer to another world and returned back became "marked" until the end of their days.
Such instantaneous movements in space are manifestations of the amazing phenomenon of teleportation. In many countries, unexplained escapes from solitary confinement cells are recorded from time to time. So, for example, the famous Harry Houdini had a trick when he disappeared from a locked casemate. The illusionist demonstrated it in many cities of the world - in London, Washington, St. Petersburg, including with all kinds of control, in the presence of crowds of journalists … How he performed such miracles is unknown.
The term "teleportation" was coined by the English paranormal researcher Charles Fort in the late 19th century. He was the first to describe this phenomenon and tried to scientifically explain it. However, scientists still cannot give an intelligible answer to the question of how this happens.
Indeed, how can one explain, for example, the fact (carefully documented and attested by seven authoritative persons) that in the 13th century Canon Dominic, on the territory of modern Milan (Italy), treated one hundred people with wine from one goblet, but the goblet remained full?
Another no less famous story: in the 16th century, the Roman priest Angeolo Paoli fed many hungry, getting loaves of bread right out of thin air. Such cases of teleportation of inanimate objects in world history are extremely numerous.
People could also experience all the delights of teleportation. Some of them, for example, the famous philosopher of the Roman Empire Apolonius of Tyana (1st century), could foresee events in advance. The emperor of Rome, Domitian, judged the rebellious Apolonius. After the announcement of the verdict, the seer declared: "No one, not even the emperor, can keep me imprisoned!" A flash of light - and the condemned person disappeared. On the same day he appeared at a distance of three days' journey from Rome among his disciples.
However, according to sources, teleportation of people most often occurs regardless of their desire. J. Mitchell's almanac "The Phenomena of the Book of Miracles" tells about the trial of the Inquisition over a soldier who unexpectedly appeared on October 25, 1697 in the city of Mexico City, although his regiment was in the Philippines!

Many such cases are contained in the British Book of Miracles of the 16th century. In particular, it describes how a neatly dressed boy and girl suddenly appeared in Suffolk County. Their clothing was completely different, and their language was very different from that spoken by the inhabitants of the county. This is a story about the so-called "Green Children of Woolpit".
There is in this book the story of the medium, Mrs. Guppy, who unexpectedly moved from her house in London to the next one and collapsed (and the lady was weighty) on the table set for dinner, breaking it into chips.
In 1903, two American women, a mother and a 17-year-old daughter, came from Kansas to Maine (half of America between them) to settle in a new home. The daughter entered the house and, in front of the dumbfounded mother and neighbors, disappeared without a trace. On the same evening, she appeared on the balcony of a house sold in Kansas. The unhappy mother was notified by telegram, and two weeks later her daughter arrived at a new house, from which she disappeared in the most incredible way.
Major of the British army Tudor Pole in April 1952 was in a desperate hurry from the regiment home to Norfolk, for his daughter's wedding. Realizing that he couldn’t make it in time, he went into the station restaurant, sat down at the bar, drank a glass of gin, thought and … found himself at the wedding table. True, without a gift and a suitcase, which were left in the restaurant bar.
Carlos Diaz, a 27-year-old Argentinian, was cycling home from work on January 4, 1975. Feeling a sudden weakness, he sat down on the grass in the park and … came to himself 500 miles from home, on the grass of the outskirts of Buenos Aires. Bystanders helped the poor man to get to the hospital.
Most people who have experienced the phenomenon of teleportation said that immediately before moving, they felt weakness, dizziness, nausea, and even lost consciousness.
Here's another fairly well-known example. The famous American ufologist John Keel (1930-2009) cites a case that happened at the beginning of the 20th century with the Vidal spouses. They were driving from the Mexican city of Chascomus to the city of Maizu. Half a mile ahead, Soldi's husband and wife were driving their car, inviting Vidal to visit.
The owners of the house, having entered the city, stopped to wait for the stragglers. They waited for over an hour, drove back 50 miles, but Vidale and their car disappeared without a trace. Two days after the police put them on the wanted list, the couple showed up as much … 4 thousand miles away, in Argentina, calling their friends from there.
Later they explained that during the trip their car had gone bad. Suddenly a white cloud fell on them, both felt sick. When the fog cleared and they felt better, they found that the machine was working, but they found themselves in a completely unfamiliar area. The residents passing by plunged the spouses into utter despair, explaining that they were in Argentina!
During her wandering in Tibet, the French traveler Alexandra David-Neel (1868-1969) encountered an amazing case. The abbot of the monastery, having invited a certain hermit to the celebration, sent for him a luxurious closed stretcher with an escort. The hermit should have avoided such signs of attention in every possible way, but in front of everyone he went inside and closed the door. However, he approached the monastery on foot under the scorching sun; the porters who arrived later were surprised to find that there was no one inside their stretcher.
Jose Antonio da Silva on May 9, 1969, in a state of shock, woke up near the city of Victoria, although he remembered that he had walked 900 km from there, to Bebedora (Brazil).
In the center of the Atacama Desert (Chile) on October 22, 2002, a hungry and dehydrated young man, 24-year-old Marivaldo Amorinho Sousa, was found who, he said, lives in Bahia (northeastern Brazil). The Brazilian could not explain how he got into the desert. He only remembered that for a week without food or water he had been walking among the stones and sands. Local policemen were shocked after hearing this story: it is not clear how the Brazilian survived in the most terrible desert of the planet.
In his book The Silent Road (1962), Wellesley's black magician Tudor Pole recounted a teleportation incident that happened to him.
“In December 1952, I got off the train at a commuter station about a mile and a half from my home in Sussex. The train from London arrived late, the bus had already left, and there was no taxi. The rain poured incessantly. It was five o'clock fifty minutes in the afternoon.
At six o'clock I was supposed to receive a call from abroad, and it was a very important call. The situation seemed hopeless. And what was really bad was that the telephone at the station did not work, because there was some damage on the line, and I could not use it.
In desperation, I sat down on a bench in the waiting room and began comparing the time on my clock and the station clock. Considering that at the station the clock always runs a couple of minutes ahead, I decided that the exact time was 17 hours 57 minutes, that is, in other words, there were still three minutes left until 18:00.
What happened next, I can't say. When I came to, I was standing in the lobby of my house, which was a good twenty minutes walk away. At this time, the clock began striking six. The phone rang a minute.
After I finished talking, I realized that something very strange had happened, and then, to my great surprise, I saw that my shoes were dry, there was no dirt on them and my clothes were also completely dry."
It must be assumed that Pole was somehow mysteriously transferred to his home, for he really wanted to be at home, and he made no conscious effort to do this. If it could happen so spontaneously, then why can't teleportation happen by will?
