The castle of Amboise was first mentioned in ancient chronicles in 504. Today this building is one of the oldest historical monuments in France.
Initially, this castle was a powerful fortress located on the birch of the Loire. However, the building gradually changed and transformed; instead of a gray fortress, a truly majestic royal castle arose on this place. Now it is considered one of the residences of the kings of France.
Each new owner, after coming to the castle, tried to give it some of its own features. So today a wide variety of styles and details are mixed in this building.
The great Italian artist and scientist Leonardo da Vinci was invited to the castle by the king. It was in these rooms that the creator designed his machines and inventions. After his death, da Vinci was buried in the chapel of the castle.
During the French Revolution, a production of buttons was established on the territory of the castle. Around the same time, part of the structure was destroyed. Unfortunately, only the third, royal, part of the castle has survived to this day.

As we have already mentioned, during the French Revolution, the grave of the scientist and creator was disturbed, and a factory was built in its place. Old-timers and founders of mystical excursions in France claim that after such acts of disrespect, the spirit of the great Leonardo da Vinci rebelled. Thanks to her brilliant mind, she disabled the machines in the factory so that after a while it had to be closed. Subsequently, the chapel of the castle was restored, and the artist's ashes were reburied, but his spirit never found peace.
More than once he was met by tourists and participants in mystical tours. Some argue that even during his lifetime Leonardo hid part of his works in one of the castle's passages, and to this day his spirit is on guard.
Ghost of the Algerian Emir
In the 19th century, the Algerian emir with his retinue lived in the castle of Amboise. Some of his servants rested on the territory of the castle's Muslim cemetery. Experts say that the emir was afraid of confiscating his treasures. He decided to hide some of them in the castle, but died before he could pick them up. And now the spirits of his retinue guard the treasures so that only the worthy could get them.
