Polish archaeologists believe that the Amber Room is hidden in an underground tunnel under the castle of the town of Paslenk. Experts plan to start searching for a masterpiece of 18th century art in the near future. This was reported by RIA Novosti with reference to the TVN24 channel.

The possible location of the Amber Room is indicated by an anomaly that was discovered during tomographic and radar studies of the area. These works were carried out in the fall of 2016.

The presence of the Amber Room, according to archaeologists, is supported by legends about the existence of many underground corridors leading from the castle. So, one of the tunnels goes to the church of St. Bartholomew located next to the castle.

The regional authorities have already agreed to carry out the necessary excavations. In their opinion, this can attract tourists to the city.

The Amber Room was created by German craftsmen in the 18th century for the Prussian king Frederick I and then donated to Peter I. In 1941, the art monument was taken by the Germans from the Catherine Palace in Tsarskoe Selo to the Royal Castle of Konigsberg, from where it disappeared in 1945. Since then, attempts to find the Amber Room have not been crowned with success, and repeated statements about its possible locations have not subsequently been confirmed.
