Researchers have found a stone to the north of the pyramid of Pharaoh Pepi I, one of the most powerful rulers of the sixth dynasty of the Old Kingdom.

French and Swiss archaeologists have found in Saqqara, one of the "valleys of the pyramids" in Egypt, the golden top of the pyramid that adorned the tomb of mother Pepi II. This was announced by the Egyptian Ministry of Antiquities.

- We found this stone to the north of the pyramid of Pharaoh Pepi I, next to the place where, as we expected, the pyramid of his wife, Queen Ankhnespepi II, mother of Pharaoh Pepi II, one of the rulers of the sixth dynasty of Ancient Egypt, should have been built, - said the head of the excavation Philip Collomber. He stressed that before that, the researchers had not even a hint that they would be able to find something similar.

It is explained that almost all the pyramids, built in the heyday of the ancient Egyptian civilization, could be seen tens of kilometers away thanks to such a pyramid of gold and precious stones.

The find was discovered in the vicinity of the pyramid of Pepi I. The height of the pyramidion was about 1.3 meters, and the length was about 1.1. It is noted that the upper part of the pyramidion was destroyed, presumably by robbers.
