The small, but quite famous for being on the border of Turkey and Greece, the Efros River has again appeared in international news. A resident of Turkey, Osal Kadir, who has been fishing in this river for 20 years, caught an unusual fish 45 cm long, with large and sharp teeth in a net.
A curious fisherman, he decided to find out what kind of curiosity it was. Imagine his surprise when he recognized the famous piranha in this fish.
The fisherman asked the local authorities to make relevant inquiries about where and how this fish could get into the river, as well as what kind of danger it could pose to humans. Osal said that this fish had never been caught in Turkey before and may have got into this river from some foreign ship.
This event is not something supernatural. In 2008, Polish fishermen caught a piranha from the Vistula. According to the director of the Polish zoo, piranhas are able to cover the distance between Krakow and Warsaw. Another example of adaptation was a 2.4 kg piranha caught in Salt Lake, located in the city of Bataysk, Rostov Region. According to employees of the Azov Research Institute of Fisheries, the fish caught was 2-3 years old. Piranha is not grown in natural conditions, since in nature it can reach no more than 1 kg.

On the website www.iefimerida.gr, where this news was first published, they sarcastically noted in the comments, "it was probably the Greek border guards who launched the fish in order to reduce the number of illegal aliens crossing the river by swimming." The fact is that this part of the border between Turkey and Greece is one of the most important places for illegal migrants to enter Greece.
