“We go there at the end of August, because the cave is heavily watered in its bottom part and we hope that at the end of August, according to the experience of previous expeditions, there will be less water,” Demidov said.
In February of this year, speleologists discovered that the Verevkina cave does not end at 1832 meters. The group reached a half-siphon - a horizontal gallery filled with water. Air thrust means that the depth goes much further, which means that research is just beginning.
The third deepest cave in the world, Sarma, is located a kilometer from Verevkin's cave. In the Arabica mountain range there is also the current record holder - Krubera Voronya cave. And all these discoveries belong to Soviet cavers.
