In Slavic folklore, there is a legend about the alatyr-stone, which supposedly lies "on the sea, on the Ocean, on the island of Buyan" and works all kinds of miracles. The alatyr-stone itself is most likely a mythical object, but on the territory of the former USSR there are many stones that, according to eyewitnesses, have real miraculous properties.

Blue stone

The 12-ton blue-stone is located near Lake Pleshcheyevo near Pereslavl-Zalessky. They say he grants wishes. For the Finno-Ugric and then Slavic tribes who lived in these regions in antiquity, the stone served as an object of worship. The ancient Slavs believed that he was associated with the god Yarila - one of their main deities.

For several millennia, the Xin-stone lay on the mountain, which was first called Yarilin's bald head, and then Alexander's mountain, but in the XII century, local residents, Christians, threw it down as a symbol of paganism.

In the winter of 1788, the monks of the nearest monastery decided to lay the Sin-stone in the foundation of the Holy Spiritual Church. To do this, they tried to transport him on a sleigh across the frozen Lake Pleshcheyevo. However, in the middle of the lake, the ice cracked, the sled overturned, and the boulder sank to the bottom. A year later, the stone "crawled" to the shore near Alexandrovaya Mountain, on the top of which it once lay.

Since then, the stone has been slowly moving towards the mountain. And this has been the case for many years. The fact that the boulder "crawls" from place to place is confirmed by many eyewitnesses.

People walk and walk to the stone. The trees around them are hung with colorful patches, symbolizing wishes. An examination with the help of equipment showed that people who come into contact with the Xin-stone have improved vital signs.

Boulders in the Voice Ravine

In the area of the Kolomenskoye Museum-Reserve, there is a place about which legends are told. It is located on the territory of the former village of Dyakovo, now included in the capital, and is called the Golosov ravine. A stream flows along its bottom, formed by many springs, which, according to legends, beat from the footprints of the horse of George the Victorious - as if he passed here after defeating the serpent.

The ravine is considered an abnormal place. People have disappeared here more than once. So, in the archives for the years 1825-1917, you can find many documents about the missing residents of nearby villages. For example, the Moskovskiye Vedomosti of July 9, 1832 contains an interesting story.

One day in 1810, peasants from the village of Sadovniki, Arkhip Kuzmin and Ivan Bochkarev, tipsy, returned home through the ravine. They were not embarrassed by the strange greenish fog that spread along the bottom of the ravine. Between two huge boulders, the travelers suddenly fell into the ground and found themselves in some other world, where hairy creatures lived, who told to call themselves masters. The "owners" promised to return the men back, although they warned that it would not be easy.

Somehow the men were transported to the ravine again, but when they got to the village, it turned out that… 21 years had passed! Although relatives remained in the village, who recognized them, no one believed the confused story of the poor fellows.

The police were called. It was decided to conduct an investigative experiment in that very "bad" place in the ravine. But during the experiment, one of the men disappeared in front of everyone. And the second soon committed suicide …

Already in our days scientists came here. In the mid-90s of the last century, researchers from the Institute of General Physics measured an electromagnetic field in a ravine - it was more than 12 times higher than the norm! And near the ill-fated boulders, the electromagnetic background was even higher.

During the measurements, a mysterious and eerie incident occurred: an unknown force lifted one of the scientists up to a height of 2.5 meters and abruptly lowered him onto the slope of a ravine. The man almost died.

Interestingly, the Golosov ravine is located, as it were, along a magnetic arrow - from west to east, crossing the magnetic field vector. Typical pathogenic zone …

The boulders from the ravine were named Devi and Gus. It is said that the Virgin Stone heals women from infertility. Ufologists claim that UFOs often hover over these stones.

According to modern shamans who conduct their rituals here, the stones are activated at dawn and dusk, and then portals to other worlds open.

Karelian seids

Mount Vottovaara is located in the western part of central Karelia, near the border with Finland, in the south of the Muezersky region. There is a lake at its foot. The flow of tourists here never stops. But they are attracted to these lands not so much by the picturesque Karelian landscapes as by mysterious stones - seids - laid by someone in time immemorial on the top of the mountain.

There are more than 1.5 thousand of them on Vottovaar. Huge boulders weighing several tons are stacked on smaller stones. The indigenous inhabitants - the Sami - ascribe cult significance to the seids, and some researchers believe that they were left here by the inhabitants of the ancient country of Hyperborea, according to legend, located on the Kola Peninsula. Here, on the mountain, there is also a "staircase to heaven" - steps ending in a deep cliff. The mountain has already been nicknamed "Russian Stonehenge".

In fact, "Vottovaara" is translated from the Sami as "the mountain of death." The ancient Sami believed that this place served as a gateway to another world. And our contemporaries, who have visited the summit, assure that there is a kind of geophysical anomaly that causes malfunctions in the operation of mechanisms and electronic equipment.

Kurkiyoki Labyrinths

In the same Karelia there is a place called Kurkiyoki, near which there is a stone labyrinth. It is not known who and when built it, but it is shrouded in many beliefs. So, they say that if you go through the entire labyrinth, remembering your sins along the way, and in the center you must present gifts to the five natural elements, then you can get rid of negative energy. And there is also a stone nearby, which the locals call "babi". According to legend, he grants wishes and helps women to get pregnant.

There are other unusual stones in Kurkiyoki. So, in the wilderness at the top of the mountain lies the Horse-stone, which supposedly heals diseases. If a person manages to enter into resonance with a stone, the functions of all organs are restored.

Sometimes a strong hum can be heard in the vicinity of Kurkiyoki. According to local residents, it is published by the Thunder Stone - a mountain, on top of which the ruins of an ancient sanctuary are preserved. On its southern slope is another stone labyrinth - the so-called ulita.

They say that if you walk the street from one end to the other, you can see your future. Many who dared to do this, claimed that they received in a hidden form information about future events and advice on how to act in life.

Druid forest boulders

On the territory of Latvia, not far from Riga, there is the Pokaina forest … The peculiarities of this area were discussed in 1996 after the Riga explorer Ivar Vicks told reporters about the mysterious properties of the local stones.

No one can really answer the question of where these weighty boulders came from. The most widespread legend says that pilgrims who came from all over Europe brought stones here, which they left in the forest as a symbol of liberation from sins …

Even in ancient times, Pokaina Forest was considered an unusual, sacred place. For example, they say that 30 priests-druids gathered here, each of whom controlled the weather from "his" hill. By the way, according to local residents, the weather is always good in Pokaini. Even if it is snowing or raining very nearby, the sun shines carefree over the forest. This is also noted by researchers.

Further, according to legend, a mysterious object rests here under one of the hills. Some say that it is a radioactive meteorite, who are convinced that it is an ancient burial. By the way, the stones on this hill are laid out in a strictly defined order - oriented to the parts of the world. It seems that the stonework once served as a compass.

Meanwhile, archaeologists conducting excavations have not yet been able to find any graves. And the local historian Janis Graudonis generally argues that the hypothesis about the "sacredness" of the Pokaia forest is complete nonsense: the peasants simply brought stones removed from the fields here …

Another option: the stones were brought to Pokaini for the construction of the princely castle, but the castle was never built. However, both versions have no evidence.

But the "sacred" version of the evidence - more than enough! First of all, we are talking about temperature anomalies. Many of the boulders are warm to the touch. And they really have healing properties: some treat diseases of the joints, others - from osteochondrosis, and still others - from women's diseases.

But there are also "dangerous" stones, touching which is fraught with negative consequences. Sometimes tourists, succumbing to temptation, chipped off a piece of the boulder they liked and took it with them as a souvenir, and then bitterly regretted it - soon people became victims of ailments or even accidents!
