Not long ago I heard an interesting story. It was told by an acquaintance of mine. On a July night in the company of friends he was returning from his dacha to Irkutsk. When his jeep was climbing the hill, the clutch suddenly refused to work, the headlights went out, the car stalled. Going out onto the road, the guys noticed the flight of a strange luminous object in the sky. A huge searchlight shone directly on them. Goosebumps ran down my skin. Soon the mysterious object disappeared. The guys managed to get transport and get home. The rest of the night they did not sleep, remembering the strange sensations caused by the night phenomenon.

Dozens of similar stories can be heard. The topic of aliens is one of the most popular on the Internet forums, various cases are described in many books, films are made on them. Unproven things pass into the world of secrets and mysteries.

Paranormal phenomena usually include poltergeists, magic, UFOs and other unexplained things. There are many hypotheses to explain psi phenomena. Sergey Yazev, scientist, director of the ISU observatory, has his own opinion on this matter.

- What explains the increased interest of mankind in the paranormal?

- I think it has always been this way. People in all ages have been attracted by secrets, riddles, strange and incomprehensible stories, from which the heart sinks sweetly, and on the basis of which myths, bylichki, and scary stories grow. The popularity of the "terrible" children's folklore about yellow curtains and red spots grows, most likely, in the same field. Remember the X-Files series! Despite its obvious fantastic nature, I have met people who, at least at first, perceived what they saw as a documentary. Or as filmed based on documentary events. At night, in the forest or in the mountains, scary, mysterious and menacing stories are told by the fire, and the narrator practically believes in what he is saying. This is the specificity of the genre, which is always in demand. For some reason, the human psyche requires riddles and secrets.

In the perestroika and post-perestroika times, when all newspapers and TV channels - both federal and local - choking, poured a huge number of tales about UFOs, aliens, etc. on the heads of readers and viewers, there was a certain calm. What is being published about UFOs now cannot be compared with the period of 1988-1991. Theses should be written about this amazing era! In my archives of those times - thousands of newspaper clippings about UFOs, and 90 percent of these are reprints from one publication to another, with errors and distortions. People then got fed up with this topic, it was partially compromised by outright nonsense in the yellow editions, and many finally realized that all this is 90 percent sheer nonsense and swindle.

- Did the Irkutsk people contact you with various UFO photographs? Or maybe you yourself have seen unusual phenomena in the sky that are difficult to explain?

- They have applied, and repeatedly, and I have seen plenty of them, and even took such photographs myself. But I must say that I have never yet managed to see something that could not be explained.

The main secret of the so-called UFOs is that in fact, the reasons for their appearance are different. There are a lot of such reasons! The problem with ufologists is that, as a rule, they recognize the only reason - alien ships. In most cases, these are indeed ships, but our relatives are quite earthly. I must say this: the majority of the population still cannot even imagine how varied and amazing the missile launches from long distances look. If you are looking from behind, or from the front, or from the side, the view will be significantly different. I watched the video of the launch of a heavy rocket from Baikonur - it looks amazing. When in September 1991 an SS-18 rocket - "Satan" according to NATO classification, flew over the Irkutsk region over the Irkutsk region from Baikonur to the Kamchatka range, the separation of stages was seen both in Irkutsk and in Bratsk. Dozens of letters then came to the editorial office of the newspaper "Soviet Youth". The then editor, Oleg Zheltovsky, handed these letters to me. We carried out an analysis, made a request - and everything became clear …
