At one of the construction sites in the Chinese province of Henan, workers during excavation work accidentally stumbled upon an ancient tomb.
Archaeologists who arrived at the site found two mummies inside. As it turned out, the bodies had been in the tomb for over 500 years.
This was reported by the South China Morning Post, citing scientists.
It is reported that the inside of the tomb was decorated with marble, and inside two crystal coffins were the bodies of a man and a woman. Their bodies, however, are very well preserved. According to preliminary data, these are the bodies of the official Gu Zuo and his wife, who lived during the Ming dynasty.
Scientists have noticed that the clothes of the deceased were preserved in almost perfect condition.
According to local media, some of the utensils from the tomb, in particular the swords, were stolen by local residents even before the arrival of the archaeologists.
However, the authorities deny this information, and scientists note that the official and his wife were buried quite modestly for their status.
