Each of them had its own area of responsibility and each of them performed certain functions. However, these functions were so closely intertwined with each other that it is sometimes difficult for modern specialists to understand which gods are independent characters, and which are just the embodiment of another god. Often, different deities had similar, closely related functions. As an example, we can cite two gods of the ancient Egyptian pantheon: the sun god Ra and the sun and sky god Horus.
Horus (Horus), along with such gods as Osiris and Isis (according to ancient Egyptian mythology, Horus' parents), was one of the most revered gods in Egypt. It is important that the pharaoh was considered in Ancient Egypt to be the embodiment of Horus on earth. Horus was always depicted with a royal crown, which combined the crowns of Upper and Lower Egypt. At the same time, he had about twenty hypostases, and in some regions of the country they were considered as independent deities with their own duties and functions.
The image of the gods Horus and Ra is very similar in many ways: it is an image of a humanoid creature with the head of a falcon. The choice of the falcon is not accidental, most likely, it is connected with the fact that the ancestors of the ancient Egyptians associated themselves with this particular bird. How can you tell the image of the gods from each other? The thing is that Ra had a solar disk over his head, and the god Horus had a royal crown. Another version of the image of Horus is a solar disk with the wings of a falcon. Thus, we can assume that Horus is a symbol of heaven, and ordinary people were associated with him through his representative on earth - the ruling pharaoh in the country. Ra was just a solar deity.
The attention of scientists to the Mountain is not accidental, it is also called the first "Hamlet figure" in the history of mankind. The "Hamlet figure" is a kind of avenger for his father, who was deprived of certain privileges and rights, most often the right to govern the country, by his closest relative, usually the brother of his deceased father. The most striking example of such a person's archetype is Hamlet from the work of the same name by Shakespeare. The ancient Egyptian god Horus is one of the first manifestations of the "Hamlet figure" in the history of mankind.
Gore's family history is far from simple. The father of God was Osiris, the mother was Isis. The god Osiris, in turn, was the eldest son of the sky god Heb and the earth goddess Nut. Osiris also had a younger brother, Set, who wanted to have supreme power. To fulfill his desire, he lured his brother into a trap and killed. After that, the wife of Osiris became pregnant from her dead husband and gave birth to the god Horus, whom she hid from the whole world for a long time in the Nile delta. After Horus grew up, he claimed his rights to rule over the country at the court of the gods. “Litigation” dragged on for decades and spilled over into a war between Horus and Set. Horus won the victory, he resurrected his father, who became the ruler of the kingdom of the dead, and he himself gained supreme power over Egypt.
Scientists believe that the confrontation between Horus and Set is a kind of reflection in the ancient Egyptian mythology of the confrontation between Upper or Northern and Lower or Southern Egypt. Initially, Seth was a rather controversial, but revered god. In Northern Egypt, his name was used by many pharaohs as a coronation name. After the unification of Egypt, the widespread dissemination of the cult of Horus began, which had previously been spread in southern Egypt. Against this background, Seth acquired more and more negative qualities, and then gradually turned into the god of death, anger, war and fury.
