An illegal transfer of personal data of store customers was discovered in Russia. This was recently announced by one of the operators of the fiscal data of the First OFD. The reason for the unacceptable disclosure of personal information about customers was the planned software reconfiguration of the cash registers operating in retail chains.
How did the information leak occur?
According to experts, the reason for the disclosure of information is directly related to the features of the software of the devices. As it turned out, during the period of reconfiguring the system, information from cash registers is redirected to third parties. And this happens without the knowledge of the owners of these cash registers themselves.
This oversight contradicts the existing law on the use of cash registers and the storage of personal data.
According to experts, odd-numbered customer information can be used for different purposes. For example, competing companies may use the collection of such information.

This information is also useful for fraudsters who specialize in various fraud with bank cards. It is too early to say whether it will be possible to eliminate the detected leak. But it is obvious that everything will be done to restore the calmness of the buyers.
