The Greek archaeologist Konstantinos Sismanides at a conference in Thessaloniki announced the discovery of the alleged tomb of Aristotle. This is reported by The New York Times.

The tomb of the ancient Greek philosopher was found in the city of Stagir on the Halkidika peninsula (40 kilometers from Thessaloniki). This settlement of Ancient Macedonia was founded in the middle of the 6th century BC.

The tomb is a domed building with a marble floor. A road leads to it, which is located in the immediate vicinity of the path leading to the market square of the city. There is also an altar outside the tomb. The burial resembles that described in ancient texts.
