In the British city of Caterham, Surrey, an unusual 250-year-old sprawling cedar grows on one of the central streets. There are many legends about this tree in the city; it is called "damned", "unhappy" or simply ominous.

According to 62-year-old Karen Lilly, who has lived in Caterham all her life, this cedar is one of the oldest trees in the city and is considered a bad omen to even just stand next to it, and even more so to discuss something next to it. Since all this then brings people troubles and misfortunes.

According to the Daily Star, the cedar's notoriety began after a witch was hanged on this tree a couple of hundred years ago. Also, the ominous aura of the cedar is attributed to the nearby house, which is considered a "haunted house." The ghost of a little girl was seen several times in this house.

The other day the ominous glory of the cedar once again showed itself in all its glory. A car parked next to a tree suddenly caught fire and instantly engulfed it. A fire brigade went out to extinguish the car, but only a skeleton remained of the car. The cause of the fire is now being investigated.

“When I was little, my nanny strictly forbade me to approach this tree while walking,” Karen Lilly continues, “All this is also connected with the house, because the cedar is part of his garden. A witch was hung on it, and a ghost girl lives in the house."

Karen Lilly says that when she talks about the abnormal cedar to other people, they often do not believe her and consider all this to be grandma's fairy tales. However, the burned-out car fixed the tree's paranormal glory well enough.

Karen is afraid to even take pictures of this tree, and some other residents admitted that when they walk next to the cedar, they do not speak and even hold their breath.

Local resident Andrea Knoules says that she had heard for a long time that someone cursed this tree (probably a hanged witch) and everyone knows that if you talk next to him, then expect trouble. And when you walk past him, you must definitely hold your breath and then "his spirit will not notice you."

The journalists managed to find those who saw the ghost of a nun and a monk near this cedar, and they appear there supposedly regularly. They also say that other ghosts are seen in the offices located in the houses on this street. So, for example, employees of the construction company Buxton flatly refuse to enter the basement of a building alone. They are afraid to meet a ghost.

The building also regularly reported poltergeist sightings, with the most recent incident taking place during Halloween. Something was throwing office supplies off tables and opening cabinet doors.

According to the head of the company, that day even the most daring men were afraid to leave the office last and left it in a hurry almost simultaneously. They felt a heavy, oppressive atmosphere, which seemed to be pushing them to get out of the building as soon as possible.
