It is believed that being separated from the rest of the body, the brain cannot maintain its vital functions. Scientists from the United States of America, however, were able to prove that this was not the case - they managed to keep the brain alive outside the body for thirty-six hours.

A large report published in the MIT Technology Review is devoted to a unique experiment carried out by the staff of Yale University.

American researchers carried out an experiment involving pigs. In order to keep the animal's brain separate from the body, an innovative life-support system for the thinking organ was used - scientists called it BrainEx.

“The BrainEx system can pump blood through all vital brain segments and thus keep it alive,” the authors of the technology say.

Scientists don't yet know if the brain, separated from the body, can continue to "think." It is planned to clarify this important point in the framework of future studies. That is, work in this direction will definitely continue - add American experts, inspired by the first successes.
