After the UFO disaster in Roswell, literally all over the world, interest in flying saucers arose, and in many countries groups of enthusiastic researchers began to emerge who were studying this phenomenon. Ufologists also appeared in the then socialist Poland.
The very first UFO photograph
Lucian Znich, an ufologist from Poland, collected at one time a lot of facts that confirmed that UFOs regularly appeared in our closest neighbors. Here are some of them related to the very first sightings of mysterious celestial objects in Poland.
The first UFO photograph in Poland can be dated back to 1958. In December of that year, the Warsaw doctor Stanislav Kovalchevsky spent his vacation in Muszyna (on the Poprad River). Here is what he told the ufologist: “On December 22, at about 15 o'clock, I looked out the window and noticed an unusual reflection, which I took for the setting sun shining through the clouds. I photographed a magnificent view from my window: in the background, the Poprad River and the wooded mountains rising above it.
Before I had time to release the shutter, a disk emerged from behind the clouds, emitting an orange-yellow glow, which I took for the sun. After developing the film, I was very surprised when, instead of the supposed sun, I saw in the picture a strange dark disk-shaped object. It turned out that during the shooting I mistook some other phenomenon for the sun, recorded on film in the form of a mysterious object."
After careful examination, no one was able to rationally explain the unusualness of this photograph: a dark disc, clearly visible against the background of clouds high above the ridge. This was the first photograph of a UFO over Poland.

The glowing ball blocks the ambulance
Polish researchers have at their disposal another, more interesting document. This is a tape recording of the story of the ambulance doctor Barbara Anichkovskaya - Piazza. On September 5, 1979, between 3 hours 30 minutes and 4 hours 10 minutes in the morning, she went to the call and on the way back had to pick up the woman in labor from Zhulavka. When the ambulance was returning, a red cloud appeared over the horizon a few kilometers from Zhulavka. It was strange, like the setting sun.
A few minutes later, to the left of the car, the doctors and the driver saw an orange-red ball with clear outlines. The ball was located 100-150 m behind the railway crossing. Then he began to approach the car and landed on the highway. The ambulance crew was afraid that the ball would swallow the car, and they backed off back to the crossing, where two railroad women were standing, watching the strange object with curiosity and anxiety.
Barbara told the police by radio that “something” was not letting them pass. The situation was complicated by the fact that there was a woman in labor in the car. The ball "stood" in front of them at 100, and maybe 300 m, and pulsed. This lasted 10-15 minutes. Then the ball moved to the tree and continued to pulsate. The intensity of its glow gradually decreased. The ball turned black. When they turned on the headlights, two-thirds of the ball was burgundy. Then either the ball went out, or disappeared - they did not notice.
The next day the ambulance driver drove to this place on purpose to find some traces left by the mysterious ball, but, alas, he could not find anything.
Mysterious object leaves traces
But in another case, in October 1978, in the area of Mlynky near Kielce, there were traces. Three local residents became eyewitnesses of the UFO. At about 10.20 pm, they passed Mlynky and saw a mysterious object above the barn, which looked like a glowing rectangle. He did not emit light, only shone himself. Then the object darkened, and suddenly two dazzling beams appeared from it, as if from an autogenous burner, only as if cut off from above. Fearing for the safety of the state machine, the eyewitnesses quickly drove off and lost the object from sight.
Shocked by what they saw, the next day all three told about all their acquaintances at work. So, along the chain, the information reached the UFO researchers, who went to the scene. There they found "a large circle of burnt brown grass, and on it three completely black tracks with a diameter of a bucket, located as if at the corners of a triangle." Perhaps this was the very first trace left by a UFO in Poland, which the researchers managed to fix.
