In every old enough castle there are always ghostly "inhabitants". The Moscow Kremlin, which is one of the oldest European castles, is no exception. Moreover, it has a rather turbulent, bloody and mystical history: during numerous assaults of the ancient Moscow citadel, devastating fires, during uprisings and civil strife, many people died here.
Not to mention the fact that once there was a torture room in one of the towers, and Red Square served as a place of executions. And, of course, a lot of otherworldly mysticism is presented by the famous Necropolis at the Kremlin Wall, as well as its "center" - Lenin's Mausoleum.
It is not surprising that the residents of the Kremlin and its temporary visitors regularly saw (and see) shadows of the past on its territory and in its premises. Or even something strange and inexplicable is happening. For example, in the evenings, cleaning women in empty offices constantly hear frightening voices and knocks. It happens that in the rooms vases fall and break by themselves, the locks on the doors break, and brown stains appear on the carpets that resemble blood.
True, according to old-timers, the ghosts themselves are much less frequent and reluctant than in previous years. But under certain circumstances, it is still possible to see them with your own eyes.
The oldest and, perhaps, the most famous ghost of the Kremlin is Tsar Ivan the Terrible. As a rule, it can be seen on the lower tiers of the Ivan the Great Bell Tower - a ghostly shadow that emits barely audible steps.
By the way, Nicholas II remembered that before the coronation the ghost of the Terrible appeared to him and his wife, Empress Alexandra Feodorovna. The next day after this, the Khodynskaya tragedy occurred, which marked the beginning of the collapse of the Romanov dynasty. Since that time, a belief has appeared: the ghost of Ivan the Terrible comes to warn of some kind of disaster.

From time to time, V. Lenin appears on the inner territory of the Kremlin at night, who has become a regular in the Kremlin since 1923 - it was at that time that his ghost was first seen. In particular, the ghost of Lenin loves to be in his former office in the Kremlin. They say that the owners of neighboring offices, officials of the presidential administration, try not to stay late at work, because closer to midnight someone’s steps are heard from the office.
At times the Kremlin is also visited by Lenin's successor, I. Stalin. Rumor has it that the most likely to meet with his ghost during the next domestic crisis and turmoil.
The ghosts of F. Kaplan, False Dmitry, Ivan Kalita, Vasily the Dark and many other historical characters wander under the canopy of the Kremlin walls.
True, for their "walks" they choose the night time, so the chances of seeing them are not very great. But who knows - what if you're lucky?..
Black cat from Tverskaya
One of the most famous ghosts of Moscow is considered to be the phantom of a huge black cat; it can regularly be seen by late passers-by on Tverskaya. According to eyewitnesses, a ghost cat jumps out of the wall of one of the buildings several times in a month, and after crossing the road disappears into the wall of another house. At the same time, such a phenomenon occurs only on odd numbers, on the odd side of the street - between the Pushkinskaya and Mayakovskaya metro stations.
The most common ghost cat can be found near the Museum of the Revolution, located at: Tverskaya, 21. Some eyewitnesses managed to shoot it with a camera and even a video camera. Maybe that's why the ghost cat is the only ghostly brother of the capital to be listed in the International Ghost Guide.
Rumor has it that meeting this otherworldly representative of the feline family is a good luck. However, he leaves only late at night, well after midnight - so not everyone has enough time or courage to go on a date with a ghost.
It should be noted that there is an opinion that this particular cat is the prototype of the Behemoth in Bulgakov's The Master and Margarita, and not at all a pet of the writer named Flyushka - a lazy and gluttonous, which, by the way, was a banal gray color.
The murderer on the Gorky highway
A rather colorful, albeit dangerous ghost appears from time to time on the Gorky highway. Many drivers talk about a mysterious bearded man who looks like a bum who waved at them from the side of the road, as if voting.
Basically, such meetings took place at dusk or on a cloudy, rainy day. Moreover, a strange "bum" always has an unusual, constrained gait - as if he was dragging a heavy chain or some kind of heavy load.
To those who still stop, the man says the same thing: "Forgive me, kind man!"
According to legend, this "man" is not a bum at all, but the restless soul of a robber of the century before last, who killed many people and was sentenced to hard labor in Siberia. When they drove him along the Vladimirsky tract (this is what the Gorkovskoye highway was previously called) in the company of the same criminals, the killer died suddenly. Before his death, he did not repent, besides, the body of the bloody killer was not buried, as expected - the convoy simply threw the corpse near the road. So the soul of the murderer toils between this and this world, not knowing peace.
However, one should not sympathize with this cast. And all the more, there is no need to stop and pick up an otherworldly killer, since he may well be able to drag the one who stopped after him.
And if you all the same slowed down near the voting bearded man and heard a request for forgiveness, then in no case should you be silent, but tell him: "God will forgive!" - and leave this place as quickly as possible.
And in general, be careful when driving along the Gorkovskoe highway - the former Vladimirsky tract has seen many deaths and is literally "saturated" with human suffering: for many decades, convicts were driven along this road from both capitals to Siberia. Quite a few of them, nameless, found their last refuge here, but they never found peace.
Monk of the Aleshkinsky forest
The forest got its name from the village of Aleshkino, which until recently was located on the right bank of the Khimki River (now Butakovsky Bay of the Khimki Reservoir). The village has been known since the 17th century: until 1605 it belonged to the uncle of Boris Godunov, and after the death of the owner at the hands of False Dmitry I's assistants, it was transferred to the treasury and was later transferred to the clerk Semyon Golovin, a servant of Tsar Mikhail Fedorovich. After Golovin's death, the village passed from one Moscow monastery to another, and in 1812 it survived the attack of Napoleon's armies. However, the village did not survive the 1980 Olympics - it was demolished under the pretext of preparing for this event, including the territory of the former Aleshkino in the water protection zone …
Although the village has been gone for more than a dozen years, the forest is called Aleshkinsky - people are so familiar.
A local legend about the ghost of a black monk who at times wanders through these thickets adds a special zest to romantic walks along the paths of the Aleshkinsky forest. More often, he appears in warm, rainy weather and looks like a tall man with an unusually pale and thin face, wearing a long black hoodie with a hood.
As a rule, you can meet him on one of the roads leading from Kurkin. They say that they see him on the eve of great misfortunes: local old-timers saw this ghost before the start of the Great Patriotic War. And our contemporaries saw the "Black Monk" at least twice: in 2000 - the day before the terrorist attack in the underpass on Pushkin Square, and in 2002 - a few days before the tragedy "Nord-Ost".
Where did the ghost appear in these places and why he wanders here - history is silent. But the local residents unanimously say: if you see the "Black Monk" - quickly turn away and walk past. If you call him or try to speak, then both you and your loved ones will be in great trouble.
A ghost car on Malaya Nikitskaya
A meeting with a Moscow ghost car, although it is invisible, perhaps only a person with iron nerves can withstand - this is a very extraordinary phenomenon. You can see (or rather, hear) this phantom on a moonless night, usually from October to April.
A ghost car appears near the former house of L. Beria, located at the corner of st. Malaya Nikitskaya and Vspolny Lane. If you find yourself near Beria's house after midnight, then sooner or later from the direction of the Garden Ring you will hear the sound of an approaching car, while (according to experts) the sound of its engine is absolutely identical to the powerful engine of the ZIS-115 - a black armored vehicle produced by the Soviet car industry in 1940s in limited numbers. The elite car of this series was designed to transport the top leadership of the Soviet Union, including Beria.
But, no matter how intently you would peer into the deserted street, trying to find the source of the noise with your eyes, the approaching car will remain completely invisible. At the door of Beria's former mansion, the engine will stall, and you will hear a man getting out of the car and talking about something with an invisible guard. After that, the door of the ghost car will slam shut and it will leave.
Headless ghosts on the Yaroslavl highway
The ghosts, which at times can be seen on the Yaroslavl highway (Sergiev Posad district, Moscow region), are extremely colorful: a late driver often flies into a ditch or into the nearest post when he sees two human figures in front of him holding their heads in their hands. If you're lucky, you will get off with injuries and repair the car, but if not …
In the old days, the Yaroslavl highway was called the Trinity Road, and has witnessed many historical events. Here Vladimir Monomakh and Peter I passed with their retinue, the militia squads of Minin and Pozharsky passed through it, Ivan the Terrible returned to Moscow after the capture of Kazan … In the memory of this road, the half-sister of Peter the Great - Princess Sophia. It is to her that these places owe the appearance of headless ghosts.
1682 - in the nearby village of Vozdvizhenskoye, Prince Ivan Khovansky and his son Andrei, who led a rifle revolt, were executed. According to the main version of those events, Ivan Andreevich did not share power with Sophia: either he decided to marry the kingdom himself, or he wanted to achieve his goals by marrying his son to the princess. It all ended sadly - the power-hungry nobles were deceived by Sophia's servants and beheaded at the outskirts of Vozdvizhenskoye on charges of high treason. By order of the princess, the bodies of the Khovansky were not buried, but simply trampled into the swampy banks of the Vori River near the village of Golygino.
Since that time, according to the stories of local residents, strange frightening groans began to be heard from there. And on the Trinity road, lonely travelers began to see the ghosts of the Khovansky, tearfully asking them to go to Moscow and put in a word in front of Princess Sophia - so that their bodies would eventually be buried according to Christian tradition. These prayers are usually accompanied by ghostly princes with deep bows and taking off their hats … along with their heads.
In order for the ghosts to fall behind, one must promise to fulfill their request, but you must admit that it is rather difficult to maintain composure at the sight of such a gloomy sight …
Ghost train from the Moscow metro
About once a month after midnight on the Circle Line, metro passengers can see an unusual phenomenon - an empty old-style train, which looks like a train from the 1940s. In the driver's office - a man dressed in the pre-war uniform of a subway worker. This ghost train generally does not stop at stations, but if it does make a stop, then its doors usually do not open.
Rumor has it that the carriages of this retro train supposedly carry the souls of people who died in the subway and did not find their way "up". Whether it is true or not, it is not known, but everyone who tells about the strange train is similar in one thing: you cannot enter its cars, otherwise there is a possibility of adding yourself to the lists of the missing. And it is better not to approach this ghost train at all - you will have goals.
Vindictive "mother" from Nikulinskaya street
Nikulinskaya Street has long been notorious among metropolitan motorists - there are a lot of fatal accidents here. At the same time, the majority of road accidents occur for completely incomprehensible reasons.
Those of the drivers who managed to survive during these accidents said that before the collision, they clearly heard the voice of a woman singing a lullaby, and a bright mirage appeared in front of their eyes: a blooming garden and a young woman sitting on a swing with a child in her arms. As a result of this vision, the person seemed to fall into a trance and taxied into the oncoming lane …
They say that once on this street a reckless driver knocked down a pregnant woman to death, and since then, her ghost takes revenge on the drivers for the interrupted life and the murder of an unborn baby.
